Where to get back of a computer?

ClownFace1511

So i'm doing a custom build and i need to get a back panel from a computer. I had a look on ebay and on the web but i could't find one. So i'm thinking just to buy a cheap case off ebay and tear it down. I live in Australia so if you guys can find anything it would be much appreciated.

Colour isn't really an issue, worst case i can just spray paint it. It will need to be like a gaming computer back, so like it should have pcie and all that fancy stuff. MUST BE X99 COMPATIBLE!

are you talking about the IO shield? or the whole back of a case.

I dont think you will be able to find a back of a Computer Case with the right dimensions that you will need. Ever case is different and you will probably have to make the back of the case yourself.

The whole back of the case

right, in that case  you are probably gonna have to just buy a whole case and rip the back off it then, nobody sells just the back as far as im aware.

As for the dimensions i have more than enough room, any one will be fine. Im thinking of just buying a case and just ripping it apart, best chance i guess.

i assume you are doing something of a custom desk build or case build so is the only part you need is the motherboard tray/rear plate. If you go with just the rear plate you will need to make sure alignment of the motherboard is at the correct height. It will be cheaper to make your own or to find an old case and cannibalize parts from it.

CaseLabs has some, though they can get pricey. Cheapest option I think would be looking at places like Ebay for old used cases with removable motherboard trays. Many had the entire back slide out instead of just the tray itself.
