Can someone please explain these insanely weird CPU temp readings?

This is at idle. One program is saying 78C and another saying 24C.

I am indeed using the stock cooler with Artic MX-4. However, I will upgrade to the Corsair H60 later this week.

You have an AMD CPU with faulty temp readings. Nothing you can do about that except buy a new CPU...

HWMonitor flops like Derrick Rose with AMD CPUs. Try something else.

Also, why the H60? There's better choices for the money.

I know. I have the NZXT Phantom 240. The Evo does fit but barely and I already have enough cramped space with wires near the bottom and the GPU. That's why I went for liquid cooling.

But the EVO is cheaper then the H60, runs quieter, and is actually a bit better in performance.

Quietness maybe? Personally I like the look better than say a 212 Evo, but I agree with you, but he doesn't have it yet, so... Whatever.

The 212 Evo is actually slightly quieter then the H60 with the stock fans

Is that under idle or load? I've yet to use the H60 myself, in the shop I work at, when we build/upgrade systems we'll slap the 212 Evo on just about anything.

Both, but generally either one will be inaudible over other fans in the case when at idle. There's a reason the 212 Evo is so popular and the H60 isn't
