WD blue buzzing

For the past 2 weeks or so, my 1TB WD blue has been making a buzzing noise. It isn't something else, if I touch the drive the noise stops. I've done the WD data lifeguard diagnostic, and it says the drive is fine. Any idea how to fix this?

It's vibrating, reseat it in your case and see if it stops.

If you can, screw it in tighter (if it is held in with screws), otherwise take some rubber bands or paper towel and put it on the sides to try and prevent it from vibrating.

If it stops when you touch the drive then it's vibration. Get anti-vibration rubber things

It's trying to back up. Noisy safety feature mandated by OHSA.

 

Seriously, it's probably a screw coming loose. Tighten your screws. If it's screwed into a caddy, remove it totally and put small rubber washers between the screws and the caddy and tighten it down again. Just make sure that the washers are not too thick for the screws.

 

If it's just in a caddy and not tighten down, well... you know.
