Scratched my case! Help!

Go to solution Solved by W-L,

What color of plasti dip do you think will match my case color? a gunmetal grey or black?

Definitely the black the gunmetal is just a fairly dark colored grey, if you want it to closely resemble the original color. Just a tip if you do masking or taping on the case be sure to create cut lines before peeling off the tape because if you don't it can peel if the surrounding plasti-dip with it.

Like the title suggests, I scratched my case during the process of modding it. Unfortunately the scratches are in a very noticeable area. Was hoping anyone had some suggestions as to how to touch up the paint on the scratched areas. Case is a 750D by the way.

It depends how big the scratch is and where, you may be able to touch up the paint and be ok with it or it the panel may need to be refinished with the corsair black finish which is not just plain black paint, if you want an exact match.

Make sure your images is set to public so it can be viewed.

Plasti-dip will work very well as long as you are very careful with the case afterwards since it's fairly easy to scuff or scratch if too much contact pressure or abrasion is applied, that being said it is very durable since it's applied on cars and easy to remove and respray. With plasti-dip you will need to respray the panel/case to get an even and consistent texture for the entire case.

Would the texture of plasti dip really be that different from the stock corsair finish?

Yes, plasti-dip can have a variety of textures from a smooth orange-peel like texture to a very fine grain texture depending on how you spray it, also I'm not exactly sure how close the two black colors would match if you wanted a perfect match. You could always go for a two tone color look with your case with the top being an accent color.

From that scratch it doesn't look like it went through the paint so you might be able to get away with some polishing or oiling to revive the paint, maybe try to oil it to see if it brings back that deep black color first with something like a little vaseline it might be still noticeable but not to that extent.

to add to this, do the whole top of the case not just the scratched area, that way it should be less noticable
