Which 970 to get and why?

I'm looking to buy a gtx 970, but I don't know which manufacturer to buy it from. I've seen articles on this but they don't really seem clear to me why I should buy certain ones. If you can explain it to me that'd be just amazing. (:

Asus Strix or Gigabyte/G1

 

Strix

  • Good cooling.
  • Completely silent operation mode

Gigabyte:

  • Good cooling
  • Backplate (G1 only)

I was deciding between those two a week ago. I went with the G1 because of the cherry picked GPUs

Gigabyte G1; quiet, no coil whine, able to overclock straight to 150MHz core and 500MHz vRAM and run stable, has the back plate, the best cooling solution

The Gaming G1 is better than any other 970 at the moment, including the EVGA FTW, since no other card features cherry picked chips.

I like the asus strix as the fans will not spin when idle and even when playing certain games like league of legends

I have the EVGA GTX 970 SC ACX 2.0 one, got it after November 9th so no free backplate + they aren't for sale YET. Other than that, the EVGA version looks stealth and slick. 

PS: ppl are gonna criticize it because of the coil whine but I guess I got a good one :)
