Asrock Z97 extreme9. Anyone has one? Information is lacking...

Gdourado

Hello, how are you?

I am wondering if anyone has experience with the Asrock Z97 extreme9.

For me it looks good, mainly because :

4x Pcie slots with PLX bridge chip.

2x m. 2 slots.

Good on-board audio.

2x Intel Ethernet ports

2x Sata express

Price is competitive.

But online information seems lacking on this particular model.

Anyone used this board?

What are your thoughts?

Cheers

I already saw as much as I could find.

I am looking wither for reviews (found just one group review on toms hardware) and first hand experience from people that have the board.

Is it a solid board?

Cheers

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/z97-express-three-way-sli-motherboard,3974-11.html

"To be completely fair, ASRock’s Z97 Extreme9 probably has exactly enough added features to offset its higher price compared to Gigabyte’s Z97X-Gaming GT. That presents a recognition problem, however. Without an obvious value leader, both products get our stamp of approval."

i would ask my self.... do i need a plx chip?

If you dont need plx, then why bother with such expensive boards?

I saw that comparison at Tomshardware.

I am needing a new board for a new build.

If all goes well, the build will be on a Silverstone ft05.

From my current build I will bring my psu, EVGA 1000g2 with sleeved cable kit, my i5 4670k, my 16gb ddr3 kit.

For the GPS, I will probably go 970 sli.

As for the board, I was first thinking about the maximus vii formula. But I have been studying the ft05.

Seems like cable management and routing is a challenge.

So, to minimise cables and maximise space, I am thinking about going m.2 SSD.

So, the formula is out because it cannot take longer m.2.

So, I thought about the hero. It goes for 155 euros.

Or the msi Gaming 7 for 145.

But then, I saw on my retailer the extreme9 for 185.

It seems good for 30 more in comparison to the hero with all the added features.

The gigabyte GT is also out due to the lack of m.2.

I want good on-board audio for gaming, overclock ability...

Based on this, is the extreme9 a good choice?
