Installing Windows on a USB Stick-Help

chicksoup

Hello,

My dad's Asus UX31A SSD recently died and replacing it would mean getting a slow and expensive SSD I wondered if I could install windows on a 64gb USB 3 Stick and leave it connected to the Ultrabook. Could the laptop be used like normal...would it work? Here I found a link to an applet that might be able to do what I'm looking for: http://www.easyuefi.com/wintousb/

Do you have any experiences or ideas to this topic...please let me know!

cheers,

Windows wont let you install to an USB device, so you have to install on something else first and then make an image of the install and apply it to the USB stick

Can Anybody Link A Virtual Machine while I go download some RAM?

It's certainly possible, I have done it using this software/guide:

I would advise you just buy a new drive as this isn't a good solution, the system runs very slowly and takes a very long time to install.

"PSU brands are meaningless, look up the OEM."
