TheIcedCanadian

Hi Guys

I have put together a build for a wishlist for Christmas. I has wondering if you guys could recommend anything I could change. I am located in Australia. I am going for an amazing looking red/black theme build in the Corsair 540 Air (that case is a must!).

I need a monitor, OS and anything you would need for a first time builder (isopropyl alcohol?).

imo I would drop the ssd, remove a couple of of case fans, get a cheaper case, and then put in a GTX 970.

I would cut 4 of the case fans, you need two for the rad and two for general airflow.

For 1800$ you should do your best to cram a 970 or at least a 280x in there...

For gaming the general rule is that your graphics card should be dobble the price of your CPU.

An i5 4460 might be more appropiate, coupled with a much cheaper motherboard because you won't be overclocking, and then you could cut the h100i away and get a much cheaper air cooler.

Consider it, you won't regret a better graphics card!

When in doubt: C4

Thanks for all of the quick replies!

I will think about the build - however I would like to go push/pull and I am definitely getting at least 4 case fans (for looks more than anything). The LEDs and sleeved cables are also pretty important :P

Thanks @ind3x for the reccomendation - how much will overcloking actually make my pc perform better?

Thanks again

Thanks for that!

I do not already have a HDD, but this computer is only for light gaming, nothing to serious (give the R9 270) and nothing to big in size.If I need to in the future, I can add more storage. My priamry computer (the only computer I own right now) is a laptop and I have only used 100GB of space.

Also, I plan to upgrade to SLI 960 when they come out

I would REALLY REALLY like to include the puch/pull for the rad, the 3 120mm front case fans and the back 140mm fan. Also, the LEDs and cable sleeves are a must :P

Given the extra fans and led and stuff, I really only have a budget of about $1600. That is including OS and monitor. I would like to get the component part of the PC down to around $1300 ($1400 MAX)

Thanks for your help :)

I wouldn't bother with push/pull. The temp difference will be hardly noticeable.
