External HDD and SSDs.

grimmjow660

So I have an NZXT Phantom 410, and I want to remove every drive cage. And velcro my ssds in the back similar to a Fractal Design Define R4. Do ssds have to be laying flat to work properly? I would think so because they have no moving parts like hdds. And what is a good external hdd that is 7200rpm like my western digital blue that I can leave plugged in all the time that will be used for games, movies, music etc etc.

SSDs can be positioned everywhere, even in zero gravity.

And for external HDDs, get a 2TB Seagate Backup Plus. Portable and spacious.

That's bullshit. I leave my 2TB Backup Plus plugged in 24/7 and no issues. I've been running it 24/7 for about 3 months now.

Hey grimmjow660,

As the guys said, SSDs can work in any position anywhere as they don't have any moving parts. How big of an external drive are you looking for? Are you planning on moving it or simply leave it plugged in all the time? What is your budget? Are you using a PC or a Mac?

I could suggest you look at WD's portable drives (both the DAS and the portable series) and see if any of them meet your requirements. Some of the DAS can be configured into RAID0 for much better speeds, if this is what you are looking for. Here are a couple of links:
WD' portable drives: http://goo.gl/lw2Mvz.

Otherwise, you could simply get a internal drive and get an enclosure for it with a USB3.0 cable.

If this helped you, like and choose it as best answer - you might help someone else with the same issue. ^_^
