Good motherboard for 4690K

Go to solution Solved by Aniallation,

Don't get H97 with a 4690K. You won't be able to overclock. That's what the difference between H97 and Z97 is. Z97 can overclock K CPUs.

Get the Z97 Pro4. http://www.centro.hr/detalji_proizvoda.c02267854c6745a38e8c07703daab5ad.maticna-ploca-asrock-z97m-pro4.aspx

So, after a week or two, I decided to buy a new procesor, the i5 4690K. B)

So far I had an i5 3330, which is a 1155 socket. The 4690K is socket 1150 so I need a new motherboard.

Here are the requirements for the mobo: good quality, uATX form factor, good OC capability4xRAM slots, CrossfireX/SLI compatibility are desirable.

Budget: 110USD / 700HRK (more or less)

(Note that prices where I live (Croatia, Europe) are higher then in USA and Canada etc.)

Ok, here's what I found:

ASRock H97 Pro 4  (http://www.centro.hr/detalji_proizvoda.05b01b5b913a40479ac2165a5c2736e7.mbo-1150-asr-h97m-pro4.aspx)

Is this good? What motherboard would you reccomend?

Please search on these sites:

I'm sorry, but this is where I have to buy. These links already direct you to the mATX 1150 motherboards category. Dispite the croatian language, you will understand the names and specs. Budget is 700HRK (more or less).

Btw, why is Z97 chipset so often said to be superior to others?  Currently I'm more into the GPU business, not paying so much attention to CPUs

Thanks in advance  ;)

Any Z97 motherboard that is in the form factor you want will work fine. Motherboards don't impact performance, and the strength of your OC comes down to the quality of processor you get, not the motherboard. Find a motherboard that has the features you want, the aesthetic you want and is Z97.
