Can shadowplay record 60fps beyond 1080p?

SeanBond

As the title states. I am trying to record at 60fps 2560x1080p. I don't see why it shouldn't be able to. I see 2560x1440p 60fps is not an option but even that makes little sense to me. The 980 can record 30fps at 4k, did they lock out 60fps just because I don't have a 980?

It can only record 16:9 1080p or 1440p, so if you try recording 2560x1080 you will either get black bars on top and bottom with the 1440p setting or cropped side edges with 1080p.

Well, I guess it is a maxwell strictly feature as how I see it right now. TBH, I don't even get why Nvidia is doing this since the 780 Ti is perfectly capable of recording 4k at 30 fps (if they just freaking let it) to begin with or even 1440p at 60fps, let alone 2560x1080p. Maybe we'll have to wait for future drivers.

There is an option for in game, but if I do in game it will record my ultrawide video fine, even though I have 60fps selected my video plays back at 30fps :(

ok, you can record shadowplay at 1080p 60fps. no higher on either. if your recording to a harddrive then there may not be enough speed to constantly write. buy an ssd or wright to a seprete hdd or ssd (so that it can use 100% of the wright speed

The limitation is not my hard drive, it's shadowplay.

I don't think Shadowplay officially supports 60FPS at >1080p

Great news everyone! I found a fix! So I wanted to see what would happen if I set the resolution to 1920x1080p 60fps to see if it would just cut the sides off instead of using "in game resolution" and viola. It actually picks up all the pixels in the recording and does 2560x1080p 60fps. You just need to set it to 1920x1080p. And as proof I recorded a video just to show you guys what ultra wide 60fps looks like. I decided to fire up metal gear rising and fight the first boss, just a quick video if anyone is interested to see what it looks like.

Wow awesome!

Are the black bars on the top and bottom put there by shadowplay or youtube?

Youtube, but that is because the aspect ratio. Since my screen is wider yet not as tall you are going to have black bars even when you full screen. It's probably hard to tell since not many people have spent time looking at metal gear rising but my field of view is huge now because of the aspect ratio.

Yeah shadowplay recording settings basically just down-samples the recording so it should not alter aspect ratios, it basically just records the video output to a 1080p 60fps timeline, no matter what the input is

Natively it supports 60fps up to 1080p and 30fps for 1440p

There isn't really any videos online of the whole ultrawide gameplay videos so if you want to pick something out of a hat I could upload any other game if you want to see something at ultrawide that you are used to.

Yeah I thought it could be some sort of scaling downsampling trickery going on to make it work. I can't really tell because the quality does not seemed to have degraded but I would have to do a side by side recording of standard 1080p and ultrawide to check.

Yeah well since its down sampling higher resolution video there will be no noticeable drop in quality

This puts my heart at rest I use shadow play often to make videos and I am thinking of going 21:9 in the future so good to see confirmation that it works fine.

It's a good choice my friend. I don't think I can play games in 16:9 unless it's really far on a tv and casually now. lol. And depite what you may have heard about 21:9 compatibilty the only game I know of that isn't working with it right now is far cry 4. There is an app called "Flawless widescreen" that is free and the person who makes it is constantly adding plugins for it that fixes all the games that are not natively compatible. Hell I got the evil within at ultra wide without black bars by the third day it was out. The letterbox patch didn't come out until 2 weeks after release. The only reason far cry 4 plugin isn't out is because hackers hit the guy's site and took it down for a week it just went back up 3 days ago so im sure he is busy.

But if you want to see some gameplay of something at 21:9 call it out and I will upload something, I got nothing but time today and im excited that it's recording at 60fps finally.
