Is this PSU supportive of AM3+? Wtf

nicolas2465

So I'm looking at the EVGA superNOVA 750w PSU for my 6300 hexacore fx build and it says "

Compatibility

Intel 4th Generation Core Processors (C6/C7 Idle Mode)"

In the specs.  Wtf does this mean?  Will it work with an AM3+ motherboard and CPU?

It will be fine, that specification is for the new deep sleep modes on Haswell CPUs.

4th gen of Core CPU need C6/C7 support. If they dont have, sometime the PSU wont turn on.

PSU will "support" any CPU. (motherboard support really...)

Haswell CPUs require a PSU that's compatible with C6/C7 idle for their "deep sleep" mode that allows them to use very little power at idle or sleep compared to if you use them with a PSU that doesn't support those idle modes.

AMD doesn't require this stuff cause, it's AMD, fuck power consumption. You'll be perfectly fine with any PSU regardless of whether it's Haswell compatible or not, but PSU picking rules of thumb still apply. Something that's made by a good OEM with good components and has wnough wattage.

What the the specs of your build that you need a 750W PSU?
