  • Statement from OnePlus: “OnePlus prioritizes the experience of our users above all else. Our team is growing rapidly to offer all users a premium level of support and keep up with much higher demand than we had originally anticipated. We’re refining all of our support processes and adding new members to our team every day. We regret if some users experience a longer wait time in this transition period but all submitted tickets will be heard and addressed.”

Nvidia Multi-Frame Sampled Anti-Aliasing (MFAA) Tested On Gtx 980

Source 1: linustechtips.com OP: Frosty11

Source 2: pcper.com

  • The GTX 980 and 970 launched with support for Dynamic Super Resolution and MFAA.

  • MFAA just launched with the release NVIDIA’s 344.75 driver.

  • MFAA’s goal is to produce results that look like 4xMSAA with the cost of 2xMSAA.

  • MFAA uses both the current and previous frame for AA.

  • Fraps will not capture the effects of MFAA, you need hardware capturing.

  • List of games to support MFAA available in source 2.

  • MFAA is silent, it doesn’t tell you if it is running when you enable it in the NVIDIA control panel. It should activate if you choose 2x MSAA or 4x MSAA.

  • Because it uses data from the previous frames motion may be affected.

  • PCPer’s test’s found that 4x MFAA did look very close to 4x MSAA in most cases, only dropping to about the quality of 2x MSAA in some scenarios.

  • The performance was almost as predicted with the performance impact of 4x MFAA being close to 2x MSAA or at least in between 2x and 4x MSAA in most cases. (Graphs on source 2 page 3).

  • Currently no SLI support for MFAA.

FAA Can Now Legally Regulate Small Drones Flights.

Source 1: linustechtips.com OP: Tech Dreamer

  • Under FAA rules, any aircraft that flies more than 400 feet above the ground must be governed by its rules. Model planes that have been flown for years must stay below that 400 foot limit.

  • "The National Transportation Safety Board affirmed the agency's position that unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) meet the legal definition of 'aircraft,' and that the agency may take enforcement action against anyone who operates a UAS or model aircraft in a careless or reckless manner."

  • The 3D NAND will enable 10TB SSDs "within the next couple of years."

  • The technology can also squeeze 1TB of storage into a mobile-friendly form factor just two millimeters thick.

  • Crooke effectively demoed working silicon by running his presentation off a prototype drive.

  • Samsung's 32-layer V-NAND has 86Gb per die in MLC mode and 128Gb in a TLC config, but a new generation of V-NAND should be ready by the second half of 2015.

When you guys started talking about the shaw wifi deal right after the nyc city wifi topic, I can tell you how it works.

Shaw's public wifi hotspots sounds like Comcast's.  It basically grabs your devices MAC address and remembers that on your account, Comcast's for instance will remember up to 10 devices.  So if you ever sell the device, make sure you de-auth it.  Though I can't say exactly how Shaw's work, but I'm taking a guess that it's probably like that.

Just signed up to the forums today.

Linus, how dare you have a different feeling towards the 1:1 EIZO monitor than I do. A square monitor would kickass and yes there have been 5:4 but never perfectly square (that I'm aware of). As weird as it seems I've searched for a 1:1 monitor in the past and was disappointed to see that no one even attempted is, aside from maybe some sub 18" screens at low rez.

Think of the multi-monitor configurations, it would look awesome. It's portrait and landscape but with none of the compromise (black bars? you'll get over that me thinks). Yes, it looks weird now because it's kind of a mind bend to see something so unusual, but I hope you come around and have the chance to review one at some point.

@ Linus : I am familiar with being annoyed by Bing whenever I install windows on a PC, nevermind having IE open MSN's homepage and having to go through (or ignore) the setup menu.

That's why I now carry FireFox Portable on a USB stick (together with several installers and portable tools).   This means I can hop straight into my preferred browser and use my preferred search engine.  On most PCs I build or format, IE doesn't ever get used.

Am I the only person who watches these shows on the 1.5 speed setting? Normal settings sound like slow motion.

And about the OnePlus One segment of the show... people are so lame to think that a startup company that sells their phone for basically no profit is gonna have the best customer service team, before they bought the phone, they should have realized that. I am a OnePlus One owner... and the OnePlus One is so nice of a phone with such excellent quality, I'm having a hard time believing that there are customers who received defective products. I believe that the majority of people requesting RMA'a are idiots who bricked their phone trying to customize, or alter it in some stupid way... the rest of the RMA requests are from people that just want their money because they are broke back and should never have made the purchase in the first place. I am on the official OnePlus forums regularly, and there are MANY satisfied customers... the few trolls who should never have received an invite in the first place are trying to give the OnePlus One brand a bad name. They will not succeed and will be ignored.

To Imagine that DRM doesn't stop some pirates is stupid... go be stupid somewhere else - Linus

And i'm going to call you equally stupid if you think stopping piracy increases sales. It's the lost-sale fallacy.

Good games boost sales. Being a trustworthy publisher boosts sales. Annoying customer-unfriendly DRM's don't.

In my opinion, there are a couple of scenario's that create piracy;

1. Kids/people with no income that want to play the games. (they weren't going to purchase the game, regardless of DRM).

2. People who have been burned in the past and want to test the game before buying it. (since demo's are no longer a thing).

3. People that want to play a game, but resent the company/dev/publisher and don't want to finance it.

Either you were going to buy the game, or you weren't. It's not like you encounter DRM these days and go "ok, i guess I will buy it now". No you fit into one of those 3 catagories. I can't believe you don't see the connection between publshers and developers of AAA titles becoming increasingly less trustworthy about performance or overhyping gameplay, and piracy.

This is equally as stupid as DMCA flags on youtube or twitch. Claiming that people hearing a song on a stream means 1 lost sale. No, ofcourse not. They were there to watch that particular youtuber or streamer play a game. The music in the background is just a coincidence.

I'm dissappoint oncemore linus.

I switched to Bing 4 years ago just because they Pay me to use it xD   (Bing Rewards = Amazon.com Gift Cards)

3400 Xbox Points == USD $42.50

1 month of Xbox Gold
$70 for Amazon.com
Pretty much the only reason I use Bing.

I like the bugs that happen midway through a game. What if someone is livestreaming it, or making a video on it.

Boom their subscribe base could Rip them a new one.

Lets also have a bug happen at the Boss Battles of Certain Games. It will show they played pretty much the whole thing.

Also would really be a pain to being soooo close to finishing the game/story and not being able to finish.

My Gaming Bio thingy?  Anyhow I love co-op gaming so add me.   :) Skype/Origin/Uplay/Steam/Other -> "GuestForeverX"

Linus -  Production value is not everything. I like that your main set is a kitchen. Don't get me wrong, it is not the reason i watch your videos, nor will i stop watching them if you moved out of the kitchen. But it seems to me that your point for moving is a bit too focused on the kitchen thing and it seem to me that you are overstressing that point. That being said i hope the best for your future and wish that the investments you have made in the company were not in vain. I hope you get your new location, bronze gaben (praised be his name) included
