Best gtx 970?

hummerh1
Go to solution Solved by Aniallation,

What is the absolute best gtx 970 I can buy? I will be building a new gaming rig soon and want to max out games @ 1080p on ultra.

Gigabyte Gaming G1 hands down. From the cooler to the GPU chip itself.

Best out of the box, a BEAST for overclocking.

Edit: by "absolute best" I mean which 970 has the best overall performance? Which one runs the coolest? I don't really care about silence since I will be using a Fractal R4 case.

There is no "absolute best" lol.

What do you mean by that? Performance, silence, looks?

I wouldnt go for the gainward 970 phantom. When the fans speed up there is a bit of coil whine.

The Gigabyte OC would be a good bet. Its also more budget friendly compared to the others

I've seen a lot of good reviews on the Asus strix 970's. They're very quiet and over clock quite well. But your mileage may vary on overclocking. I personally really like the evga ftw editions but haven't seen a lot of reviews on them yet.

For single card, it would be the Gigabyte G1 or MSI Gaming.

For SLI with no slot separation or just one slot of separation, it would be reference.

Cheers!

I think I may have been too broad with my question, so I just edited it.

If you want the absolute best performance go for an EVGA FTW but my personal fav is the Gigabyte G1 gaming.

Thank you everyone for your feedback. It sounds like the Gigabyte G1 Gaming is my best option, followed by the Evga FTW. I will try to get the G1 from my local store next week, fingers crossed! :D
