USB Web Cam

watts300

I want to buy my dad a web cam for his 61st birthday next month.

We each have a Mac and my brother has an iPad so I'd like to get him going with FaceTime so that he can talk to every one (grandkids!) with ease and so that we can see him with clarity. He has a more-than-decent 27" display so I think he'll get a kick out of it.

I haven't bought a web cam for any computer in a very loooong time so I've lost touch with what is good.  I don't even know who the major players are any more.   I just know of Logitech.

Budget of $60ish.

He's got Yosemite 10.10.

Does any one care to opine?

Ah!  A reply!  Thanks.   :)

I noticed while shopping that Microsoft makes cameras now.   There was one review on Amazon for one of them that said on a Mac, some features might not work. (I think it mentioned auto-focus.)  It only takes one comment to raise doubt.    I know Logitech is likely to have better sales support (via email) than Microsoft, but I'll email them both to see what their answer is on feature support beyond the basic "it works" answer.

Thanks again for the tip.  I'll research those models some more.
