Accidentally picked up radio signal

gozzygozborn

Ok so I was changing my CPU cooler yesterday and when I was plugging all of the cables back into the computer when i was startled by someone talking, it was right after i plugged my speakers in. At first I thought there was something playing on my computer on start-up for some weird reason, but then I realized that everything was plugged in but my psu. I could clearly hear the guy talking and what he was saying like a well-tuned radio (he was talking about terrorism). I must have somehow been picking up a radio signal. Is this a crazy coincidence or does this happen often? Does anybody have a good explanation for this?

It happened to me once, with an old speaker system, what you need to do is unplug it for a couple of days, and let it discrarge, i forgot the name for this, but thats the solution.

It has to do with the device being magnetized or something to the point where shielding fails, so you let it discharge for a couple of days (turned on but unplugged), and it goes away.

I didn't think so either

actually wrong, if you get 100 feet of wire and lay it down on the ground, and then put it into and AMP/and some more crap, then speakers you CAN make a radio.

A motherboard has copper coils (same part as the coil whine thing) those can pick on singles really easily. i made a radio at home on that principle about 6 years ago.

so no, your not insane.. xD

this is pretty common

you can easily pick up radio signals with a male/male cable

What kind of connection did you have them hooked up with?

Digital or analogue 3.5mm jack?

irrelevant

If you're going to post fucking useless comments then gtfo nobody needs you here.

If OP was using a stereo speaker system or a receiver there was a good chance the mode accidentally got switched to radio.

I dont need assholes like you posting "irrelevant" on my posts just because you're too stupid to understand that the type of speaker system DOES matter.

I just pushed my computer under the desk and plugged it in and it stopped.

thats not normal, yes you can build a radio out of just a few parts like aluminum and or diodes but the signal would be weak, but according to you it was nice and clear so either one of two things
1) the speaker system should be shielded to avoid EMI interference and its defective
2) the transmission is really i mean really close and its strong enough to interfere with your speaker system.

soo are you hearing the message in other things like your tv or anything else with a speaker on it?
