Lost Ark is an isometric action RPG game much like the Diablo series and Path of Exile, put together by Korean developers Smile Gate using the Unreal Engine 3.The game is rumoured to a free-to-play title, and will enter its closed beta testing next year. Although there aren't any news regarding the westernisation of the game it is definitely something that could happen hence why you should keep an eye out. So far there are 7 out of 18 playable characters have been revealed.

The following video has been released on the Lost Ark YouTube channel as a trailer for the 2014 G-Star Show in Korea(there is also one more video released prior to this one on their channel).

According to the videos description:

An exclusive cinematic will be available during the 2014 G-Star Show, where you will be able to view additional content. Don’t miss out!

Here is a detailed timestamp and a breakdown of the video (expand the spoilers for more information):

00:00 Introduction

Includes some background story for the game.

01:57 Class & Action Introduction

Welcome to the world of the Lost Ark. you will take on a role of heroes who must save the world from the Demon Legion of Kazeroth. I will introduce you to the heroes now.

02:19 First class shown is the Battle Master

The Battle Master uses speed and powerful combos to take down her foes. Her air combos are especially devastating. Furthermore if her elemental gauge is full, she can destroy hordes of enemies in a single blow.

03:06 Second class shown is the Devil Hunter

The Devil Hunter is one hell of a gun-slinger. He makes use of three different stances. His first stance is quick on the draw with Double Handguns. This is best for eliminating fast-approaching enemies. For larger, closer enemies, nothing works quite as well as the Shotgun stance. And finally, the Rifle stance to snipe off those enemies in the distance that are best not to confront. If you can think on your feet and have cat-like reflexes, the Devil Hunter will be your best choice.

04:00 Third class shown is the Arcana

The Arcana uses cards as a medium of powerful spells. She can cast cards chosen by a roulette wheel that spins according to special conditions. The Showtime card empowers her to deal tremendous amount of damage! She also has the Wheel of Fate, Which allows her to re-cast a previous Ultimate Skill. It's all about using her cards at the right time in the right combination.

04:42 Forth class shown is the Warlord

The Warlord is a knight with strong armor. Even while soaking damage he has a number of attacks with his lance and shield.

05:12 Fifth class shown is the Infighter

The Infighter is a heavy-handed martial artist. His attacks explode as with pent-up energy and deal terrifying amounts of damage. Enemies who are stuck may become pulverized, or are blown away by the impact.

05:47 Sixth class shown is the Summoner

The Summoner can command beasts by interacting with spirits. The power of Ancient Spirits are especially immense.

06:16 Seventh class shown is the Berserker

The Berserker is a warrior that wields a huge two-handed sword in battle. When he enters a frenzied state, he can crush an enemy with his strength.

06:44 Tripod System

After selecting a class, it is time to learn about upgrading your skills via the Tripod system. Let's explore this system by using a Battle Master Skill as an example. First you can select an affinity of your choice, and the modify the attack type in the second step. Lastly, you can upgrade it's range or increase its area of effect to attack more enemies. This will allow you to adapt to different circumstances in battle. Use the Tripod System to create a unique classes of your own.

07:56 There are more classes to come!

Well, which class was your favourite? You can take your time before answering. There are still more fascinating classes in Lost Ark. You will not be disappointed.

08:17 Adventure

The world of the Lost Ark is alive and it's story is told by the players. The NPCs will interact with you and you will be able to have a choice between contrasting results (e.g. a NPC hanging off an edge of a platform; do you help him up or kick him down) You can sneak in and eavesdrop on conversations. You may leap from rooftops to catch a thief. Use the fireflies in a bottle to light the darkness, and don't panic when you see a steep cliff or a broken road. Support your allies fighting below by crossing a narrow rope, and immerse yourself in adventures you've only dreamt about.

Now, we will talk about the field. In Lost Ark, there exists a 'life level' different form the battle level. Oh dear, your pick is broken. Rise your level to learn the Mining Bomb skill. Easy, right?

Your hound has caught an interesting scent! Investing in archaeology will reveal hidden artifacts. The player is into logging. If there is a tree too big to tackle alone, try it with your friends. Don't limit yourself to one method. Lost Ark can provide you with numerous life skills (such as fishing as shown in the video).

11:07 World Map

Now on to larger areas. Players out in the sea can capitan their ship and engage in various activities. You can gather fish with nets, or salvage goods with cranes. If you're familiar with navigation, then it's time to sail out and explore new lands. How about hiring an ice breaker to forge new sea routes? Why... that's a ghost ship! If we can't avoid them, we should meet them head-on. After a long journey you can discover new, uncharted lands. Find out for your self what fortunes await you there. Even we cannot say how many secret routes exist in the game. But hidden rooms that you discover will not disappoint you.

12:54 Contents

Now, it's time to have a closer look at the world of Lost Ark. First, let's see what you can do in town. You can engage in card battles with monster cards you will find during adventures, or participate in simple competitions like beer drinking.

13:31 Colosseum (PvP & Team v Team arena)

The Colosseum is a fighting arena to earn wealth and glory. Players can engage in 1 vs 1 matches on matters of pride. The 3 vs 3 matches require teamwork. Only those who challenge can reap the rewards of victory. Prove the skills you honed in adventures!

14:34 Team-play outside of town

Let's head out of town and into the field, shall we? You can gather resources necessary for life or hunt monsters for rare materials. The players are getting restless. Ah, it's because of this huge monster. Unexpected things may happen in the field, so never let your guard down.

15:06 Guardian Raid

We will now head for the glacier Valley in Northen Sushire. in some ways... the days when we fought demons were the happier times. At least, we didn't have to face Berutooth, the lord of the frost lands. A Guardian is a monster who reigns supreme - the top of the food chain. You will encounter these rare and powerful entities during your travels. Faith in your allies will be the key to defeating this huge beast. If a battle proves to be too difficult, look around. (Player mounts a massive crossbow) This chain seems strong enough to bind Berutooth. If you want to take the rare artifacts protected by the Guardian, brace yourself for a challenging battle.

16:25 Summary & Cinematic Dungeon

We have barely scratched the surface. In lost Ark there are countless boss enemies beyond your imagination. Climbing the path to the Tomb of King Lutheran may be the most difficult quest of your life. Overcome the harsh obstacles and climb to the top floor to get closer to the Ark.

Are you ready to meet the challenges to this new world of Lost Ark? I wish you luck.

I do have to say myself that I am overwhelmed with the detail of this game and all of the features mentioned in the video are really interesting. Although there are no plans to release the game worldwide (as far as we know) I wanted to contribute to popularizing the game buy making this VERY time taking thread; 2h+ to rewrite all of the subtitles so that you guys can easily reference to things. I'm a nice guy like that :) I'm looking forward to see what comes out of this game. Let me know what you think? I do hope the free-to-play aspect won't turn the game into pay-to-win!

Not sure if this is Tech News and Reviews worthy, but this game looks amazing.

Never, ever, play a Korean RPG that markets itself as free to play.

It all ends up in the same shithole that is pay-to-win, where games such as Maplestory and the like has become.

That said, game looks really fun, much like Kritika which is another Korean title.

To be honest I don't have a clue where to even post game news. I see a lot of people post things about games here and all over the place. They should just rename the sub-forum to Tech/Gaming News and Reviews since there are a lot of both here. If mods don't like it here they can always move it wherever they think it's most suitable to be.

The game looks very pretty.

Smilegate is a great name for a studio and a curious twitter hashtag.

PC Gaming section of the forum should be renamed 'PC Gaming news and discussion' or something similar. Other gaming sections should be scrapped.

This should have been posted in PC Gaming.

That aside, my thoughts.

Looked great until the guy took out a steam locomotive for a sword. Y u do dis, Korea? If there's just one class that'll use weapons and armor that look sensible, I'll give it a shot.
At least it doesn't have those Tekken-style comic book floating damage numbers crowding up the screen like most other Korean games, but of course the mage has to be a gender-locked female angelfairy with her tits hanging out.

Also remember they just opened closed beta or alpha in Korea, that means it'll take 4-5 years to get here, 3 if lucky

Looks about as creatively bankrupt as TERA, but at least the world is very 'epic', but that also gets tiresome after the 413th time you see the same 1 km high statue make an earthquake with its wiener.

In case the moderators do not ban me as requested, this is a notice that I have left and am not coming back.

What makes you sat that? There aren't many betas, or even alphas that have lasted longer than 4-5 years.

I think he means like the time it will take for all of the alpha/beta process then the game to be released on top of the time it will take to get westernised. It is bound to take at least a year if they try... probably more unless they are already working on it.

Past experience. Korean games, when entering the first few stages of testing, haven't even secured a publisher or a license for the western market yet. And then the publisher has the task of localization, which takes over a year in itself. Then THAT version enters limited closed beta, and so on. This was the case with 2moons/ Dekaron, Archeage and pretty much any Korean game that had a big budget (the bigger the budget, the more time it takes as they don't want to mess up) the fastest games to come to the west were throw-away Perfect World titles like Battle of the Immortals and Forsaken World, and even those took almost 2 years from Korean beta to western beta.
