Help with controlling 3 Pin Fan speeds

Hey guys

So im building this system that has *several* GT AP-15, but im having a little problem controlling them..
Controlling each fan through the motherboard or a fan controller with voltage is fine the problem is that because they are *several* i need to use a 8 way splitter.
I have 2 types of splitters, the ''mod.my.toys 8 way 3 pin to 4 pin molex'' and i have the ''Swiftech 8 way PWM splitter'' that doesnt do jack**** with his PWM even with PWM fans (Coungars PWM and Noctuas NF-F12)
The mod.my.toys one im connecting it directly to the PSU so i guess i cant control it like that.

So since the Swiftech splitter seems to be useless to my intentions accordingly to the limitations of my knowledge i was wondering if i could use the mod.my.toys splitter and instead of connecting it directly to the PSU using some kind of cable to go the other way around, 4 pin molex to 3 pin fan to connect it to the motherboard/fan controller and like this being able to control the fan speeds.

I really would like to hear the opinion of someone experienced with this type of stuff.

Actually this technically should be possible, but your gonna have to ghetto rig it a little bit, and you will have to make it yourself, no one is gonna sell this kind thing.

But the following should work.

Connect the 12v power pin of the mobo fan header to the 12v power pin (the yellow cable) of the molex on the splitter.

Also connect the ground pin of the mobo fan header to one of the grounds on molex (black cable).

Then remove the tachometer pin from the 3 pin connector on one of the fans. Instead of running this to the splitter, you need to run this to the mobo fan header.

Attach the rest of the fans to the splitter normally.

This little diagram should help you identify which pins need to go where. (Note: The color of the cables are not consistent between the 2 connectors. DO NOT connect similar colors other than black. Make sure you read the labels)

The Swiftech hub is for fans of a single variety, Cougar and Noctua fans don't share RPM's. And it's controls are based on the primary slot.

 

I know nothing of ghetto wiring so I'll leave that to others.

What i meant if i wasnt clear enough was that i tried with both fans separately not both at the same time.. im not that stupid, wtf? O.o

Yup that should give the fans power. The only thing is, if you want to read your fans RPM, you will need to pull the 3rd pin out of one of the fan's connectors, and insert that into the empty spot on 3-pin side of the connector you linked.
