Upgrade from iPhone 4

The Angry Alien

Hello everyone! This winter I was thinking of upgrading from my iPhone 4 8gb (but it actually says it has a max of about 6 gb's) to something a bit faster. My iPhone 4 has recently been very lacking on the battery front and also doesn't seem to respond as well as it used to. I never abused the thing and all I really use it for is lots of music, texting, web browsing, and the occasional call. I also am hating the small screen it has as it strains my eyes after extended use of it. I was looking at the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 as the size is especially appealing to me, along with the high resolution (if a bit overkill) and the battery life I hear it has. The multitasking is also a great looking feature with the large screen. Not to mention the 4G compatibility as I've been stuck with 3G for the longest time. So if you think you have any ideas for any other phone or comments on how to make it so my iPhone could be a bit better, they'd be much appreciated! (If anyone noticed this is a re-post as it seems it bugged out for me and was unable to give me any information on the last post, sorry!)

you could get that Note 4, HTC One M8, and a few other phones that you might possible like. I wish HTC would put better cameras on their phones though. :/

If you want to stay with iOS, the iPhone 6 an 6+ would solve your problems. If you don't mind changing to Android, the HTC M8 is a great phone(M7 if you are on a budget), and the LG G3 and Nexus 5 are also good phones. The OnePlus One is a great device, but I can't recommend it because of their bad (absent) tech support.

If you can get a good deal on an iphone 5, that might be more convenient and allow you to keep your apps and everything if that matters to you?

I'd rather pass on another iPhone personally. I have practically no apps on my phone right now, just music and a couple photo's

Another reason I'd like the note, the camera seems fantastic. That and I take a lot of photo's in the winter since I snowboard and a good camera would be nice for it ^^

There isn't much hope for us Iphone 4 users other than the last IOS 7 update and trying to keep the memory usage down.

Rip us, I always forget to close background apps which probably doesn't help with anything

I do the same, battery life can be just terrible when that happens. I'm planning to make a jump to android sometime in the new year. I have been eyeing the Nexus 6 since it had official photos released.

Apple is so terrible. You will not understand how crappy apple is until you check out a current Andriod OS. Even Windows Phone OS is better than Apple ios.

Can't wait to ditch this iPhone 4 for either the Nexus 6, Note 4 or maybe the Sony Xperia Z Ultra.

I feel your pain.

Honestly if you snowboard and use it for pics a lot in the winter, consider the Galaxy S5 or Xperia Z2/Z3, as they are waterproof.

Wow. You like big phones.

My next phone'll probably be the Z3 compact, Moto X 2014, or the Nexus 5

Your signature reminded me: I'm going to ditch this iPad 3 too. Most likely for a Nexus 9, but I may wait a month or so after Christmas to see what comes out of CES.

On the contrary, you like small phones. :P I use my phone like this:

60% Web browsing

35% Flipboard

4% Texting

0.5% Facebook

0.3% Flashlight

1.999999999999999999999999999999% other

0.000000000000000000000000000001% actual phone calls (do people still do that?)

All those things (except probably the last one) are better with a larger screen. And while I'm still a teen, I'm the tallest person in my immediate family and can easily pocket most 6"+ phones (or in Apple's case, a 5.5" phone with the footprint of a 6" phone), so that's not an issue.

I'm more like

35% Texting

25% Browsing social networks (is this the same as web browsing?)

20% Listening to music

15% iFunny, 9gag, reddit, tumblr, etc.

5% Calling

I can easily pocket big phones too, just they don't fit so well in my hand. Plus I'm more about portability with my phone.

Ehhh.. I'm not too sure about that. In my opinion: Android=iOS, depending on what you want in an OS>Everything else>Windows. Demi live tiles are not my style. Plus the app store.. Ugh. Apple still has the best app store IMO (Android's catching fast though)

IMHO Windows has eclipsed ios at their own game ... making an easy to use simple mobile os. That's what makes Windows phone so good.

I can't imagine you'd have a better experience with any other phone from 2010...

Windows Phone is a joke. Android and iOS have these amazing things called "apps" :P
