EK plexi 970 waterblock

does anyone know if its safe to cut a hole in those plexi waterblocks i bought on from EK thinking it might fit as it looks visually compatible (galaxy 970)

No, you cannot cut any port of a waterblock.

 

This is why you only buy a waterblock if your GPU has a reference PCB or if the waterblock is custom made for your GPU.

This is why you only buy a waterblock if your GPU has a reference PCB or if the waterblock is custom made for your GPU.

the thing is this is a reference 970 -_-

only other  option is sell this card and by another one if i cant

The Galax 970 is not listed in the compatible list of GPU's.  It may look like a reference PCB but it isn't if the company swap capacitors or chokes.

only thing to do now is leak test it which i cbf doing right now

 

EDIT: nvm i just poured distilled water in it does not seem to have any leaks other then dust inside xD, also masking tape does not really seem to protect it -_- as you can see.. properly

Kinda late to the party, but looks like you did a pretty decent job. Seeing as everything was outside the 'o' (although never 'o' shaped on waterblocks) ring, you should probably be fine assuming that you didn't damage the 'o'ring at all.

just testing it to see if it leaks or not. It seems like a 240mm rad is enough room temp is about 31c
