Haswell Xeon With Iris Pro Confirmed for Christmas!

http://ark.intel.com/products/79475/Intel-Xeon-Processor-E3-1284L-v3-6M-Cache-1_80-GHz#@product/specifications

http://blogs.citrix.com/2014/05/07/intel-discloses-new-xeon-e3-processor-with-intel-iris-pro-graphics-at-synergy/

I'm disappointed by the CPU clock speed (should be turbo to 4GHz), but this looks like Intel is testing the waters to see who will buy Iris Pro on desktop. Honestly, for anyone looking to get into CAD who can't afford the Quadro or FirePro, it looks like the solution has been found. The product is not yet launched, but it's set for Q4 2014, so it should be out by Christmas.

Any amateur CAD/3D people here who want to give this a spin?

Can we see Iris pro on a quad core celeron?

That would be almost perfect for a budget gamer.

In a desktop environment it will hit high turbo ranges pretty frequently :)

3.2GHz is the max frequency.

If this thing comes with support for thunderbolt and ecc well then I am buying it.

TB will be motherboard-dependent. All of Intel's Xeons and I7s carry TB support post Sandybridge.

Good enough for most people this is targeted for I'd say :)

No, because that's almost a 25% hit over some of the current E3 Xeons as well.

Based on the TDP it isn't supposed to go head to head with the higher end Xeons like the 1230v3 etc, for a lower cost very small solution with no need for a discrete add-in card.

Maybe a 88W model will come down the line with Iris Pro and 3.7GHz or whatever.

Depending on how it performs I may swap to it and ditch my dedicated GPU. Gaming isn't something I really do and when I do it's fairly basic :P

I doubt that this will use an LGA socket, as they haven't really shown any intentions towards brining Iris Pro to LGA.. I'd assume that this will be another BGA (1364?) processor, especially considering it's lower than normal TDP.

It's would be a decent CPU for a small form factor workstation/server that needs some level of GPU computing to be done, but we probably won't be able to just slap this into an H97 board and have a cheap gaming rig..

i7 not perfectly stable at 4.4.. #firstworldproblems

I know its not going to happen... but I want an E5 with Iris Pro.

I'd love to replace my servers 1620 and use the Steam Streaming "bug" where you get to the desktop and just do CAD work off of that.

I wish baseclock was a bit higher but still I think i will upgrade to it

Since the turbo is 3.2GHz, that means the Multiplier can be at least raised to 32. So you can get a constant 3.2Ghz on all cores on this one if you overclock it.

muh specs

Gaming and HTPC (reparations)- ASUS 1080, MSI X99A SLI Plus, 5820k- 4.5GHz @ 1.25v, asetek based 360mm AIO, RM 1000x, 16GB memory, 750D with front USB 2.0 replaced with 3.0  ports, 2 250GB 850 EVOs in Raid 0 (why not, only has games on it), some hard drives

Screens- Acer preditor XB241H (1080p, 144Hz Gsync), LG 1080p ultrawide, (all mounted) directly wired to TV in other room

Stuff- k70 with reds, steel series rival, g13, full desk covering mouse mat

All parts black

Workstation(desk)- 3770k, 970 reference, 16GB of some crucial memory, a motherboard of some kind I don't remember, Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI, CM Storm Trooper (It's got a handle, can you handle that?), 240mm Asetek based AIO, Crucial M550 256GB (upgrade soon), some hard drives, disc drives, and hot swap bays

Screens- 3  ASUS VN248H-P IPS 1080p screens mounted on a stand, some old tv on the wall above it.

Stuff- Epicgear defiant (solderless swappable switches), g600, moutned mic and other stuff.

Laptop docking area- 2 1440p korean monitors mounted, one AHVA matte, one samsung PLS gloss (very annoying, yes). Trashy Razer blackwidow chroma...I mean like the J key doesn't click anymore. I got a model M i use on it to, but its time for a new keyboard. Some edgy Utechsmart mouse similar to g600. Hooked to laptop dock for both of my dell precision laptops. (not only docking area)

Shelf- i7-2600 non-k (has vt-d), 380t, some ASUS sandy itx board, intel quad nic. Currently hosts shared files, setting up as pfsense box in VM. Also acts as spare gaming PC with a 580 or whatever someone brings. Hooked into laptop dock area via usb switch

Should've thrown Iris pro on the G3258. That would've made almost every AMD APU they've made irrelevant.

Given Iris Pro 6200 is coming to the Broadwell 5770k which is on LGA 1150, and also given the PCIe lane allocation for this Xeon is 1x16, 2x8, 1x8/2x4, I'd say it's actually pretty likely this is LGA1150 material.
