Hey, I'm new to watercooling and I'd like to fully watercool my pc so that I can overclock and give it a sexy look. Here is the pc :http://pcpartpicker.com/user/LordCreeper/saved/Jqbypg

My budget is 2000$ Max.

and I want to watercool the Cpu and Gpu.

Can you tell me (if possible link me) everything I need!!

I'd like color matching tubing or Water.

Thanks :D

You can get clear tubing then add food dye to the water or something like that. And don't forget the silver coil or biocide to prevent algae build up

NEVER GIVE UP. NEVER STOP LEARNING. DONT LET THE PAST HURT YOU. YOU CAN DOOOOO IT

Should be sufficient for radiators.

Can always get more if needed.

And for GPU's. Think this should work if the STRIX is a stock GPU.

Don't do this. Never add food dye, especially red to watercooling just get http://www.ekwb.com/shop/accessories/water-additives-coolants/pastel-coolants/ek-ekoolant-pastel-red-concentrate-250ml.html

And then some compression fittings.http://www.ekwb.com/shop/accessories/fittings/compression-fittings/for-13-19mm-1-2-3-4-tubing.html

Just remember: Random people on the internet ALWAYS know more than professionals, when someone's lying, AND can predict the future.

^ He's right, No food dye, it clogs.  Do a research on what coolant you are going to use since silver coil can possibly cause chemical reaction.

Dyes stain, some dyes stain a lot, some don't do that much.  There's also coolant like pastel white from Mayhem do not stain because they didn't add dye.

To OP:

If I am not mistaken,  you are planning a $2000 loop for 2gpu+cpu?  With that budget, you can wc pretty much everything, mobo, ram.

I will not recommend hard tubing for a beginner but it looks really nice when done correctly. To do the hard tubing you need a heat gun and other apparatuses just to bend the tube correctly without any kinks. Now you can make soft tubing look like rigid tubing but you will need some 90 and 45 degree fittings to ensure straight and also some extenders. This too is not for beginners IMO.

If you really want to do hard tubing get primochill PETG tubing which is harder to break then the other types. You will also have to change the fittings to rigid compressions and primochill rigid compressions are really nice, this is just one of the colors available.....http://www.performance-pcs.com/rigid-revolver-compression-fitting-3-8-x-1-2-10-pack-dual-tone-anodized-gold.html.

Also, you will need to watch many many many videos about the subject to get familiar. Some good people who make these videos are Jayztwocents, modzoo, ronsanut and SingularityComputers.

Can you link me what I need for that? Like all the blocks, tubing, fittings etc

Sry for the late response, if this can help you a bit please take a look at it.

The list I made is abt $1000 b4 tax.  You can expect additional $200 in fittings, $50 for your acrylic tube, $300 for all fans.  In total roughly about 1000+200+50+300=1550

Since you have the heat gun, you only need something like a hacksaw or whatever tool that can cut the tube.  Silicon Tube is also needed so when you bend the tube, Inner Diameter will remain its shape.

First I don't know what exact tubing you are going to use. So I didn't put them on to the list I made.  However, you have plenty of budget to cool gpux2+cpu.

Seems like you are going to do Hardline, there's 12mm/16mm OD.  I would recommend to use 12mm OD/10mm ID acrylic or PETG.  PETG is really easy to work with(cutting, sending, bending etc...), but it has not yet been widely used, so I guess I can't say it will be 100% safe when you start adding different coolants in the future.

For the fittings, I would still go Bitspower 12mm OD hardline, just a personal preference, you should pick whatever looks good to you.

For the Fans, I would go NoiseBlocker eLoop B12-PS x12

Below is what I would pick if I were you cooling in a 900D.

CPU: Bitspower CPU Blcok Summit EF(Intel) Clear Acrylic Top Version

GPU1: Bitspower VG-NGTX980 Acrylic Top with Stainless Panel (Clear)

GPU2: Bitspower VG-NGTX980 Acrylic Top with Stainless Panel (Clear)

Reservoir: Bitspower Water Tank Z-Multi 100-Full Clear Acrylic Version

Pump: Alphacool VPP655-PWM-SINGLE Edition

Pump Top: Bitspower D5 Mod Top (White ''S'' Model)

Pump kit: Bitspower D5/MCP655 MOD KIT Deluxe White (All D5 pump will fit)

Radiator Top: Black Ice Nemesis 480GTS

Radiator Bottom: Alphacool UT60 480MM

RAM Block: Bitspower Glaxy Freezer DIMM4 RAM Liquid Colling Block V2-Clear

Noted: links from PerformancePCs just because they were available,  Picking largely from BP because they look good and perform well, downside really is $$.

I strongly believe that you be fine with budget at $2000 unless you wanna go metal/copper hardline which requires more investment in tools(cutter, bender, straightener, something help you sanding).  I am not really an chemist that can give a definitive or scientific explanation on tubing, please take my words as a personal experience/preference.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Since No manufacturer can guarantee Zero variance in terms of tubing diameter.  There's always a 0.1~0.3mm larger or smaller OD, so the most important thing is that you sand the tubing properly so it sits perfectly into the fittings.

Speaking from personal experience, if it is hardline Acrylic, I would suggest you to get whichever cheapest as they don't really differ that much from one another.  Just by looking at the tubing, I don't think anyone can distinguish them by a specific brand.

The other thing is that I never tried colored acrylic tubing.  I can't say much about it, however, "clear acrylic+colored coolant" won't look the same as "colored acrylic+distilled water".  They can look very similar but not the same due to the wall thickness of the tubing.  Also, if you have colored tubing+color coolant, it needs a lot more effort to make the color look right.  Based on all these, adding LED lights will make things even more complicated.

A few months ago, performancePCs had Bitspower clear Acrylic Tubing on sale, so I bought like 5m in total(shipping+tax(8.75%)) for like $50.

E22 tubing are very reputable, but so expensive.  I personally think compare to BP hardline, they are slightly more stiff.  You would only notice the difference when cutting it.

You can also buy tubing (Acylic/PETG/copper/stainless steel tubing) from MacmasterCarr.  The only thing I need to warn you is that I ordered PETG 6 feet from them.  They came scratched.  The customer support was very nice and easy to reach.  They sent me a new one the next day, BUT still scratched.  According to them, the scratch comes from the way they store the tubing.  I don't know whether you buy short length of PETG would still have scratch or not.

In my personal rig, I have BP clear Acylic for show+Primochill Advanced LRT in rad box.  And Mayhem dyes+distilled water.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As for coolant, I think the best coolant is Distilled water.  I think you shouldn't rush to play with coolant that much at this point.  The reason that is because most colored coolants stain.  Or you can say only certain colors like the white pastel wouldn't stain.  This make changing color a lot of headache.  Whatever you do, you just can't 100% clean the whole system once you add strong dye for a long period of time.

I think Mayhem really has good reputation and if you go to OCN.  There's a Mayhem's club thread where one of the rep(Mick) constantly answer and give advice to ppl.

General speaking, Red is the strongest dye staining, Blue should be the least.  Also, I was trying to find a dark green coolant just a few weeks ago.  I realized a lot of the time, some color like green and yellow look differently in real than on picture/video.  This video from Mayhem can give you bit of thought of what color you like.  In your case, a white+black base scheme.  Any color will look good imo.

my last questions, how much fittings do I need for the 3 gpu's and cpu? And does this backplate work for the asus strix?

my last questions, how much fittings do I need for the 3 gpu's and cpu? And does this backplate work for the asus strix?

Fitting numbers really depends on how you want the build to look like.  But at least, you will need 2 for each component.

gpux3 = 6 fittings, cpu = 2 fittings, one pump = 2 fittings, reservoir = 2 fittings, one radiator = 2 fittings.  In total, you would need 14 fittings

However, you can opt to add a drain port like a valve or quick disconnect.  This is highly recommended.  It would be a little bit more tricky since it really depends on where you want it to be.  You are very likely needing something like an extender or adapter to hook them up.

Another thing is that  you can have pump+res combo, or sometimes even a pump+res+rad combo.  That would strictly limit you to mount them together, but you don't need that many fittings and tubing.

My suggestion is that you should draw out your loop, and then see what would possibly fit and look better in your case.  After that, you can calculate how many fittings you actually need.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Edited: I am very sorry that I wasn't aware that you picked the Strix from Asus.  It will not work on the Block I pick.  The Strix uses custom PCB.  From the official website of Bitspower, it only works on the ref cooler one.  You can contact them to get a definitive answer.  The thing is their blocks are not like EK blocks.  They pre-cut the off-set on the block, so the odd of making one block compatible with another is very low.

I headed to EK but even they don't have one released yet for the Strix.  In this case, tho I love the Strix, I would probably pick a ref pcb card.

However, if you are not in a hurry, you can always wait for a little bit.  It has been two months since the 900 series came out.  I really think these Watercooling companies will release their blocks for custom pcb very soon.

one more thing is that I realize 980 blocks very rare atm, and all of them are made for Ref cards,  MSI TF stuck in the same situation like the Strix

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Just for a quick question, you really seem like building a ultimate pc.  Have you though of getting a M.2 PCIe based SSD like the Plextor M6E or Samsung XP941?  Much faster than multi SATA Based SSD even when they in raid 0 as boot drive.

Just for a quick question, you really seem like building a ultimate pc. Have you though of getting a M.2 PCIe based SSD like the Plextor M6E or Samsung XP941? Much faster than multi SATA Based SSD even when they in raid 0 as boot drive.

Thanks you, I will wait a bit, and tbh, I never really thought about the m.2 pcie based ssd's because I don't really know them, I will take a look. :)

If you want you edit the build, as long as you stay under 10000$ :)

Oh okay I think you can take a look at this article about m.2 ssd on asus motherboard, it explains why even raid 0 sata ssd will still be slower.  I actually just called Asus and confirmed that Plextor M6e will work as long as you set it as UEFI boot.  The other common choice would be Samsung XP941, it's actually a raid card, so you need to set it on RAID.

I went to pcpartpicker, EVGA GeForce GTX 980 4GB ACX 2.0 Video Card from B&H photo $548.85.  It's about the same price as the Asus Strix but it's reference PCB.

I didn't go for the SC version is just simply because I believe SC cards just have different BIOS set at higher clock speed.  So you can just OC your own card and you apparently going to watercool them.

Adding Plextor M6e 512GB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive at 394.99 Super Biiz.  I don't know how much storage you are going to use.  So I just simply add this as your boot drive and you still have plenty of budget.  I personally stop buying HDD in my personal rig just because I only need about 1TB in total as a casual gamer with day-to-day use of pc.  But if you are a content creator, you kind of just need HDD for bigger storage.  The Samsung SSD you pick really delivers good price/performance ratio as well.

And just for you to know, Asus ROG POSEIDON is something you may wanna look it up.  Also, there's been news regarding 8gb 980 for a few weeks.  That could also be a reason why you should wait just a bit.
