I've wanted to switch to Linux for a while, but I always find myself crawling back to Windows

Wow it gives you a pretty clean shell to work with from the get go :) nothing like the nes :(

I've gotta build a completely new back panel though, everything came out with the main board.

That's not to bad I would imagine all square cuts ,I liked the lexan I got from the Home Depot seems pretty shatter proof.

You still going to order all your internals next weekend?

Mhmm

Time for a quick update.

I just took an old IO sheild I had lying around, and an io plate for a GPU I had & stacked them, comparing them to the PS2, and that will not work.

I need a single slot GPU.

Good news is, I found one.

(refurb part, limited quantity, dont want any potential nabbers)

Only a little less powerful than what I intend to use, but a whole lot cheaper.

Maybe I can get a better CPU with the $40 this frees up?

Or... more ram :)

More RAM or APU + low profile R7 250/X?

You know that you coulda gone to Goodwill and find a PS2 there, i see a lot of FAT and SLIM PS2s for around 20 dollars. Plus it's the same place where i bought my GTX 280 for 7 bucks.

I've decided to bump the CPU up to an A8-7600, and use the IGPU, cause I cannot find a gpu that will fit after my own measurements.

Try ditching the stock cooler for a better one if you can... The one on my A8 was as loud as a vacuum cleaner when I was gaming using integrated...
