bequiet! PowerZone 650 or Silverstone ST1500?

So hey guys,

I just won a Silverstone ST-1500 in a competition and I think it will arrive somewhere next week.

So first of all I'm soooo super happy to actually have won some HARDWARE! Yay! (There's nothing better tbh).

And also this PSU sounds like a complete beast! http://www.silverstonetek.com/product.php?pid=226&area=en

+12V (8) Rails: Combined 1320 Watts / 110A

+3.3/+5V Rails: Combined 280 Watts

Protection: Over Current Protection, Over Voltage Protection, Under Voltage Protection, Short Circuit Protection, No Load Protection

Active PFC, 80+ Silver

MTBF: 100000 hours at 25° C

OEM: Enhance

So, I think that covers up the most important things to say.

So, what I have actually is a bequiet! Powerzone 650W and this is doing a quite nice job.

My hardware:

CPU: AMD FX-8150 (this thing is thirsty tho)

MBRD: Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 (recently bought)

RAM: 2x 4GB Corsair Vengeance 1600

GPU: Zotac Geforce GTX 760 AMP!

Hard disks:

SSD: Crucial M4 128 GB

HDD1: Western Digital WD10EZEX

HDD2: Western Digital WD15EARS

HDD3: Seagate ST3258023AS

Cooling:

2x 200mm LED Corsair

2x 120mm Noctua

bequiet! Dark Rock Pro 2 (to keep that little hottie of CPU cool)

Monitors:

Dell Ultrasharp UH2312HM

some old 19" Medion whatever

USB Stuff: Phone, Deathadder, G510S (yeah, again), USB HDD (2.5), External DVDRW (2 USB), USB Hub (4x)

So, here, finally, comes the questions:

- Does anyone of you have this PSU and can tell me if it's a good one? (Silence, durability, etc?)

- Why would I need the 1500 Watt PSU in my rig? (I know it only consumes what the system needs)

- What are my advantages by upgrading my PSU rn?

- Will I ever need the power it delivers? (I'm not planning on upgrading to SLI, maybe a 970/980 next year, but only one)

- Or should I just plant it in, be freakin happy and buy 2 GTX 980 when I win the lottery?

Thanks for your suggestions! :)

Have a nice weekend!

-Lex

That is so overkill...you will waste the poor psu on that rig

Beware of him that is slow to anger; for when it is long coming, it is the stronger when it comes, and the longer kept. Abused patience turns to fury.

The Silverstone is great, but I would sell it as you don't need it

You'll only ever need that PSU if you have Multi-Xeons, 3/4 Titans, LED stuff everywhere, million fans, some berserk cooling solution, etc.

I know, from what JayzTwoCents says about his rig, that he uses about 800 watts or so. He has 3 980s, 5930k, RAM, fans, custom watercooling for everything, lots of drives, etc.

For that though you COULD somewhat justify something like a 1500w PSU since PSU's operate best at about 50% usually, but it's still fairly overkill even for that kind of rig.

Alright, thanks guys. So I guess I'm gonna sell it. And yep, you're right, it would be a 'little bit' of an overkill. Even it would sound damn cool when someone asks about my PSU tho.  :D

But yeah, no benefits, no need to keep it.

Thx  ^_^
