After installing drivers? Backup or restore point?

Alir

What kind of backup should you create after you have installed all of your drivers?

Should you create a restore point? and if so, what should you do to stop that restore point from being overwritten from a newer restore point?

Or do you need to create some sort of whole system backup?

you don't NEED to do any of that, I've never backed my PC up and have been fine for many years, however if you're one to commonly download malware and viruses it might be a good idea to create a quick restore point in windows

Oh and which medium/storage device should you IDEALLY save it on/save it as?

Restore points build up to a certain point depending on space being taken up. You'll probably have 10 different restore points to choose from. I would keep System Restore enabled and perform backups using Windows Backup. System Restore can only do so much - many viruses in the wild will infect restore points, thereby restoring the virus every time you tried to use one. Having a backup to restore from will enable you to get rid of it if your antivirus can't. System Restore also assumes your drive is functional. Backups allow you to restore your system to another drive if necessary.

Local system hard drives and some sort of off-site server, if possible.

How would you go about creating a system backup? Is it a native feature in windows 8.1(pro)?

It's a little more difficult to find in Windows 8.1, but it is there. I'll have to do a search real quick.

Here's the link to show you how to do a system backup in 8.1: http://winsupersite.com/windows-8/windows-81-tip-use-system-image-backup
