When you carry a USB flash drive around your neck with a bunch of portable tools on, antivirus, browser, utility installers etc.

 

You have a bag with a laptop (In my case a Chromebook as I use it for college, battery life is great for the price) as you refuse to use the College "Slim PCs" (takes more than 5 minutes to load a complex webpage, even with business grade internet) as well as:

• a portable battery bank
• two micro USB extending cables
• one more micro USB cable
• a micro USB to 30 pin Apple adapter
• a mini USB B cable
• an Apple lightning cable
• a cat 5e cable, just in case I need to tap into the college network (they only use the proxy on the wireless network for some reason, the college PCs have it applied to them too but not additional devices, weird.
• A kit full of screw drivers, tweezers, spudgers, cleaning cloth
• anti-ESD band,
• pliers, solder and wire snips.
• IDE & SATA to USB adapter
• a SATA cable
• Spare mouse

 

All that with a binder full of my actual college stuff.

Oh, story from today actually.

I had to get my college card reprinted as some details that needed to be changed finally did.

They were using a small Windows netbook with a mouse, DSLR, card scanner, card printer, a light and a flash drive off a USB hub plugged into one of the ports on the netbook. They couldn't get anything to work so I suggested they look into getting a powered USB hub.

 

They asked if I'm part of the college IT team...
