2 F@H Questions for yall

So its finally cooling down (a lot) so I decided to get my HTPC folding 24/7. Currently its an i5 2500 (non k) with a GTX 460.

 

First, is it even worth folding on the 460, it looks like its only doing about 4-5k ppd, which seems pretty horrible to me...

 

Second, I have my old rig which is a X58 i7 920 which I 100% plan to swap out as this mobo I think has issues, for being an i5 with 4 gigs of RAM and RAID 0 HHD's it lags like you have no idea. Something is just wrong with it

 

Should the 920 lead to a ppd increase because of its H/T, even when the 2500 is running 3.7 ghz and the 920 will only be stock 2.66 (depending on how well a Hyper 212 can cool the 920 with low fan RPM I may OC it, on corsair h50 I used to have it at 3.82 Ghz)

Hmm, really? So I would have to get the 920 up to a decent GHz in order to compete with the 2500?

The 2500 has better performance in things like geekbench and passmark according to CPUBoss (I know they're synthetic benchmarks, but F@H is reliant on compute performance (and a few other things)), it doesn't beat the 920 by much, but it has better power consumption

Gotcha.

Also with my rig running 100%, looks like now that's it's had some time to settle in I'm getting 22k total on the system. ~8k on gpu and 14k on 2500

And just so this PC actually works right while doing it's HTPC duties, I might throw in my old 8600 gts and use dvi-hdmi on that so my gtx 460 isn't distracted from folding (computer doesn't fold only when idle, I have it so the screen never goes off, maybe that's how it determines idle...?).

Other reason I want the 920 in there so I can turn off a thread so the PC is still usable when I need to use it. If I turn off a core on the i5 I loose 25% folding ability, a thread on an i7 won't have as severe an impact.

I would throw my for sale 470 at F&H too, but it's way to loud. The 460 runs quiet and at 65c, the 470 would sound like a jet and be at like 90. Lol
