Yeah DFI made motherboards cool. Up until they started working boards just looked like shite.

I absolutely loved one of their first big hitters, the Nforce 2 Athlon Tbird board. Man, it was expensive but nothing at the time even came close.

http://www.tweaktown.com/reviews/515/dfi_nforce_2_lanparty_motherboard_review/index4.html

There it is. Was probably one of the most daring bits of kit ever released. Up until then boards were just super crap. Expensive though ! over double the price of the Shuttle I had.

Holy crap, look what I found !

A DFI modding kit. Includes two runs of orange braid (3ft) 20 luminous cable ties and two orange SATA cables.

Yippee !!! original DFI too and only a fiver.

God bless The bay, and all who sell on her !

How much did they cost? I would love to see how these look outside the box :D

People actually live there ?!?!?! :D

I used to live down in Salem County nr the Delaware bridge. I worked in Edison for a while, I guess that could count as a bit central?

Oh and I used to drive to Jackson? was it? for my Whitecastle hahaha.

OK, cabling. So the PSU has a 24 pin built into it, as well as a couple of GPU runs and the EPS. The rest is modular. Now I don't want to commit myself to it being yellow and orange in case I ever decide to switch it out. So, what I've done is this.Bought a 4 pin extension (board is 4 pin)

And a 24 pin extension.

For a total of £3.50. This means that I can braid through acrylic (like I did with X8) and the PSU still be removable and that if I want I can simply remove the modular cables I braid and the PSU will remain stock (very important on a £250 PSU)

where did you buy those?

i'm planning to do the same but i couldn't find anything at that price

Quick update.

So I started laying down some orange, with mixed success.

First up this stuff is super runny, almost like water. The issue is it comes out of the spray nozzle in splats just like water too. Level needed here, = expert. Sadly it reacted with the back plate for the GPU so I am weighing up whether it's worth stripping the paint and starting again or just covering the back plate in vinyl.

The plastic inner shroud came out nice though, though I had to push the paint to the point of running so as I say, expert level needed. The stuff I used on my Radiomactive was bloody lovely, but Krylon is not readily available in the UK (it's probably something to do with it being a carciogen lol, them yanks love off their carciogens :D )

I will get some pics soon. I'm currently juggling so many projects in my head that this one may need to go last.

I've also decided that the Revolution is simply too big logically to be a good choice for the case so I am going to swap it out with either my lady's RM750 (the most probable method) or simply switch it out with my EVGA G1000. Both are fully modular, which will really help in the confines of the 250D.

OK so that's the power supply sorted.

corsair-rm750-psu.jpg

I had to switch out two other PSUs to get to it ! right old PITA but it's now packed and ready to be fitted. Whist I was there my lady asked if I could try and make her rig quieter. I switched around some fans and added some quieter 120mm Xilence fans to her rig, and ended up with a set of these.

Now that's what I'm talking about :D

It's not just any old 480 though dude, it's one of these ;)

I had 880mhz out of it on a PSU that wasn't up to scratch so I'm hoping to hit 900.

you should buy some of the uv yellow sata cables off ebay also...well unless i missed them on this post

Sadly they seem to be like rocking horse droppings. There is a seller in the USA but he wants around £16 just to ship them :(

If i remember the upper limit of a 480 especially on air is 860-900, so good luck! :)

Poppycock ! I had a stock standard EVGA on a Antec Kuhler 620 hit 960mhz lmao.

Remember - they don't have the throttle that the 570 had ;)

These cards were built to break world records. got a LN2 switch on it too.

Somehow I seem to have lost the 960mhz score, but IIRC it was over 7000.

Now think about that for a moment... GTX 480 less than 10% slower than a overclocked 7970. That's impressive ;)

I hate it when I find a good pc build but need to wait for the end results :<

Sadly I have to wait on loads of items to arrive. All small things, but right now I need the orange heat shrink so I can't continue work on the GPU.

So about twenty minutes ago the door bell went.....

God dammit.

Ugh, if it doesn't ran it pours.

So the orange paracord came shrink packed with all the air removed. Cut the package open, paracord looks like shit.

So I can't use that either. FFS.

I think it looks quite nice, sure not when you're doing a DFI build. But in a black/white themed build I think it might look quite nice  ^_^
