I just built my first system, and when i turned it on when i had connected my monitor to my gpu nothing showed up on the screen, so i swithed the cable to the mobo connector and the and the screen started showing stuff. So at first I thought that i had to install the drivers, but the drivers wont install, i have tried the best i can please help.

What OS are you using? Only reason why the drivers wouldn't install unless you have a full drive.

Go here and download the latest drivers. You'll be prompted to restart your PC. Do so and plug in the cable into the GPU.

try using different outputs on your 290. take the card out, put it back in, use different slots....

Does Windows detect it in device manager?

Deciding what to put in my sig is too much of a task for me.

Next step right here.

If device manager isn't detecting a video device other than the onboard the driver won't install. Make sure power connectors are in nice and tight. If they are, try the card in another PCIe slot. If that doesn't solve it, RMA the card.

Chances are the card is defective. Happens to the best of us. If you can, maybe try it in a different system before declaring it dead?

sadly my older system is not compatible with this card

Ouch. I would go ahead and start the RMA process. I think we've covered the bases here.
