I saw an interesting article over on PC Perspective where they were discussing the next-gen consoles hardware and how long their life span may be.

Their life span is not 8 years. I give it 3, before the next wave.

This is getting silly now, this is like going up to a person in a wheelchair and telling them that they are a cripple. You just look stupid, no one laughs, you then feel bad, fall into depression, question your existence, resort to violent and destroy that which you love and then you die. *fact

They become better with each generation even tho they are a still old in terms of capabilities.

Yeah, and this shouldn't be surprising news. The PS4 and Xbox One have what is basically an 8 core version of the $50 AM1 APUs. Child's play compared to even mid range PCs.

I don't think the "console war" is even relevant anymore.  Games have gotten to the point where major titles demand such powerful hardware to be able to play on the current standard of resolution that it doesn't make sense to not have a pc to game on.

However, I will give props to Nintendo.  The Wii U has the thing that I can't put my finger on that all the classic consoles had.  They managed to keep the character of the console in tact while staying with the times (SSB in 1080p 60 fps and 8 person brawl!!).  I will be buying a Wii U soon.

This is hilarious yes anything will hit a wall but honestly you would have to build a PC that cost at least 800 dollars to be any worth while. Ps4 plays games high setting 60 frames exclusives and 3rd party being random to their preference. so a PC to be worth while has to be ultra for years to come.

For that to happen you need at least a i5 4690k and a good motherboard to support it without that it's useless and a starting graphics card of a gtx760.

Yes you can build a 500 or 600 pc but will see how long that last you. That's fine if you want to play old games like bioshock infinite at 1080p That previous consoles couldn't do and because their really is no a backwards compatibility that enhances old games I agree on those terms.

Sorry, but that's just not true.

I don't think you even read the article. The point it was making was how soon it's happening.
