1 GTX 980 vs 2 GTX 780

So, currently I have a GTX 780. Disregarding costs completely and concentrating purely on performance, would getting another 780 be better than replacing my current graphics card with a 980?

Obviously, but the 980 can also be overclocked massively, still won't be even close to two 780s, but he could also upgrade a second 980 in the future, and getting a 3rd 780 is kind of a waste.

Anyway, I would say that he would probably be best suited for a second 780 for now, and eventually upgrade to like a single 1080 or whatever the next gen is.

Wow. I thought it would be close. Not the extra 780 absolutely destroying a 980.

When SLI is working correctly than 780s. I bought another 780ti and have 780ti SLI. Thing is I have issues with SLI. This leaves me wanting ONE fast card again. The 980 would not fit the bill for me so I am waiting for the real Maxwell... The Big One.

...Disregarding costs completely...

get 2 980s if cost is no issue but if that was just to keep price/performance out of the comments then get another 780

2x 780 will defiantly beat a 980 even at higher resolutions because the sheer power will overrule the VRam.

However adding a 3rd is not advised because of the scaling of performance is defiantly not 3X.

Also make sure your power supply can handle 2x 780! I had that problem

Just get 2x 980 :)

i actually think most people with a 780 gpu, want to upgrade to a 980 just because of the ram, they fucked everybody on that one, i'm glad i skipped the 780 :P i'm replacing my 680's with a 980 wich makes a lot more sence ^^
