GTX 980 Ti announced?

KR_king

This is just a very loose thought of mine but would it be possible nVidia just announced their 980Ti?
They posted this on their Instagram

post-2484-0-55402300-1414786451.png

It's a drawing of a GTX980 but the calculator is labeled Ti in the right hand corner.

Is this an announcement or am I just getting a bit more crazy?

Would love to hear your thoughts on this.

The 980 has all the cores in the GM-204 spec. Unless 980ti is a GM-205 chip or something unusual I doubt it.

Interesting find, but I don't think that that was what they were going for.

It's just a Texas Instruments TI series calculator, and the card will NOT be called GTX 980 Ti, because the GM204 core has all of it's cores enabled.

I'd bet a bottle of sriracha on it, as I did for AMD's power consumption.

TI = Texas Instruments. Probably the most common calculator type out there. Of course, I can't say anything with certainty, but I'm betting you're wrong here.

What? TI (Texas Instruments) calculators are used everywhere.

A GM 205 would be slower than GM 204 if it existed. This would be GM-200.

or GM210... they usually label the most powerful core x10, then its x04, (x06, x05 iirc)

Still a better screen resolution than consoles are capable of.

muh specs

Gaming and HTPC (reparations)- ASUS 1080, MSI X99A SLI Plus, 5820k- 4.5GHz @ 1.25v, asetek based 360mm AIO, RM 1000x, 16GB memory, 750D with front USB 2.0 replaced with 3.0  ports, 2 250GB 850 EVOs in Raid 0 (why not, only has games on it), some hard drives

Screens- Acer preditor XB241H (1080p, 144Hz Gsync), LG 1080p ultrawide, (all mounted) directly wired to TV in other room

Stuff- k70 with reds, steel series rival, g13, full desk covering mouse mat

All parts black

Workstation(desk)- 3770k, 970 reference, 16GB of some crucial memory, a motherboard of some kind I don't remember, Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI, CM Storm Trooper (It's got a handle, can you handle that?), 240mm Asetek based AIO, Crucial M550 256GB (upgrade soon), some hard drives, disc drives, and hot swap bays

Screens- 3  ASUS VN248H-P IPS 1080p screens mounted on a stand, some old tv on the wall above it.

Stuff- Epicgear defiant (solderless swappable switches), g600, moutned mic and other stuff.

Laptop docking area- 2 1440p korean monitors mounted, one AHVA matte, one samsung PLS gloss (very annoying, yes). Trashy Razer blackwidow chroma...I mean like the J key doesn't click anymore. I got a model M i use on it to, but its time for a new keyboard. Some edgy Utechsmart mouse similar to g600. Hooked to laptop dock for both of my dell precision laptops. (not only docking area)

Shelf- i7-2600 non-k (has vt-d), 380t, some ASUS sandy itx board, intel quad nic. Currently hosts shared files, setting up as pfsense box in VM. Also acts as spare gaming PC with a 580 or whatever someone brings. Hooked into laptop dock area via usb switch

its totally understandable. its Graphics Maxwell 2nd iteration and then the code... 10 is best, 04 is second best. all the rest are useless anyway

Yes. This is awesome. Nvidia is appealing to us nerds. GO NVIDIA! (no fanboy)

But I'm more interested in the GTX 960/Ti.

or MAYBE there will be no 980ti... its not like its common for them to release an x80ti card. look back, the 780ti is an exception, rather than a rule. its much more possible there will be a 960ti, but only if AMD somehow fill the x60 market segment with somethinf bettter

Or this is just Nvidia posting something about their cards being used for calculations....

The 980 has all the cores in the GM-204 spec. Unless 980ti is a GM-205 chip or something unusual I doubt it.

A GM 205 would be slower than GM 204 if it existed. This would be GM-200.

It's these comments that amuse me with how much people just...don't know about these cards. Just like with the 770 being GK204 and the 780 Ti being GK210, nothing will change here. The "980 Ti" will use the GM210 chip.
