What is the best CPU cooler for my situation?

Icefire555
Go to solution Solved by WoodenMarker,

So this is what I have avalible.

1x120mm rear fan.

And I have some corsair high profile memory which a noctua (something) 14 won't fit into.

What would be the best performance cooler for the space? I don't care about noise just as long as its reasonable. (No leaf blowers) but I often fun my GPU at 60% to keep it under 70c.

Oh. And I'm using the AM3+ socket! The board is a Asus sabertooth 990fx. The high profile ram is in slots 2 and 4 so some air coolers may fit that are larger.

Well 212 EVO is the best bang for the buck cooler, but if you're looking for something higher performance then check out the Kraken X31 or some of the neat Cryorig coolers.

A watercooler is perfect for your situation! It isn't affected by high profile memory. Good cheap ones include Corsair's Hydro series (low end) and it would seem that Thermaltake's water 3.0 performer is also very good for its price. Higher end ones like the NZXT Kraken are also very good.

The Cryorig R1 Universal outperforms the NH-D14/D15 (which is what you were thinking of) has 100% RAM compatibility is cheaper and looks better. http://www.cryorig.com/r1-universal.php

My issue is I have 1 120mm fan and a bunch of 230mm fans. Although I don't know if I can mount a smaller fan to the point.

This is the case on newegg

The case is mentioned above. the ram is corsair vengeance, which I didn't realize would be a problem. and budget I would prefer 100bucks ish. although if I can I would plan to reuse the cooler when I upgrade to an i7.

The cpu I currently use is an AMD phenom 2 x6 1090t.

I can't find any information on the clearance for cpu coolers. Can you measure the distance from the motherboard to the side panel?

Would you rather use the U14 or the Kraken X31?

u14s by a long shot. The x31 is more of a competitor to the u12s which is still quieter and performs better. http://www.hitechlegion.com/reviews/cooling/liquid/41751-nzxt-kraken-x31-120mm-liquid-cpu-cooler-review?showall=1&limitstart=

What about the Noctua NH-D15?

Although the ram would fit underneath due to the amount of clearance you have in the case, that might not be the case if you ever decide to changes cases.

Also, I don't see the need for such a beefy cooler unless money isn't an issue.
