Is this a case of RMA or am I screwing up somewhere?

Go to solution Solved by Skandha,

Hahahaha..... HAHAHAHAHAHAHA....HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

THIS K70 RGB WAS THE SOURCE OF ALL MY PROBLEMS THIS WEEK! LIKE SERIOUSLY!

So it turns out i was screwing up somewhere. so long story short, I had the second USB that draws power for the K70 plugged into the USB port on my Legacy PCI card, and that was drawing so much power that the PSU just kinda powered everything because of it. This also made the new USB 3 PCI card I got not work, and I had given up on using it.

Which explains why I didn't notice this problem for two weeks, because I didn't get those two USB cards until this week, and up till then I had both USB cables from my keyboard plugged into the USB ports on my Motherboard.

The problem didn't exist until I got that PCI card and plugged my keyboard into it.

Wow...... I'm done.

Thank's for your help though, I probably wouldn't have gotten to this conclusion if you didn't tell me to try my other PSU again.

Now I know that my $100 PSU I just bought works, the K70 RGB is evil, and I'm able to use the USB 3 card that I had pretty much given up on.

What a Friday....

Happy Halloween folks!

A week ago I got a new case (Define R4) and a new power supply (EVGA Supernova 750 G2)

So I ended up doing the whole transplant thing, and everything seems to be functioning fine except,

Now whenever I Shutdown, Sleep, or Hibernate my machine, my GPU fan kicks it into full speed and the power LED around the power button stays on.

On top of this, the Power and Reset buttons stop responding, even the ones surface mounted on the Motherboard, (GA-Z77H-UD5H)

Moving the mouse around or mashing the keyboard doesn't wake it up either.

I have to either flip the power switch on my PSU or go and unplug the 20 PIN power connector off of the PSU for it to stop.

I also tried pulling out the GPU and booting without it but I still have the same issue, unable to recover when I Shut Down, Sleep, or Hibernate.

I have tried doing a BIOS update, since it was still on Version F7 of the BIOS and the newest one was F15, this didn't help at all, tried clearing the CMOS and switching to the other BIOS chip with no results.

At this point I think it's probably the PSU, because it is the one that is continuing to deliver power after Shutdown, and as far as I'm aware, the standby power it puts out shouldn't be enough to make the GPU fans spin that loudly.

There might be a BIOS setting I need to change, but as far as I can tell, it's the PSU.

For RMAing it, I'm going to have to send all the cables and stuff to right, not just the PSU? That's going to make this a pain, gotta switch back to the other PSU.

Well can you test your old PSU to see if you have the issue still?

I suppose, lemme go grab my old PSU.

But I assumed that because nothing has changed with my system besides the case and PSU that the problem would be the PSU.

Yeah, but you need to be 100% sure it's the PSU because if you RMA it only to have the same problem with the new PSU then your going to have a bigger headache. And since you have the hardware it's good to make sure of these things. And also, yes you from what I guess I'm sure they would want to to include on the cables that came with the powersupply.

Ya thought as much, just would have like to save myself the trouble of having to redo the cable management.

Got my old PSU out of my old case, now let's see what we get.
