HELP! Need info on a 4k build

Hey guys,

I need help on selecting parts for a new 4k build that can run 4k games at 60+ fps. What parts should I choose for this build??

Thanks,

An R9 295x2 is a good place to start if you want nice settings :)

An intel i7 would also go well, IDK if an i5 would bottleneck at all, maybe a little.

A 9590 would also be a good choice if you're not paying the power bill :P

Someone told Luke and Linus at CES 2017 to "Unban the legend known as Jerakl" and that's about all I've got going for me. (It didn't work)

Okay, so you mean a 4K build not a $4K ($4,000) build. Apparently I confused someone else the other day with a similar thread. :D

I want only NVIDIA for GPUs.

A cheaper option would be to go the Intel Xeon E3 route. But if one wants to OC.....then that's not a good option.

It must be an Intel build and maybe 980s. Also I want 4k at maxed out graphics.

What's to explain? ;)

I think AMD provides cards that are well worth the money and are a valid competitor to Nvidia, my opinion seems to be getting less popular because of late. For a single card solution the R9295x2 is probably the best card available. Although I do like Nvidia cards because of shadowplay, which OP may want, but without SLI he won't be able to get good performance with a single 980 unless he plays on low settings... I think.

I am fine with SLI on a 980.

GTX 980's in SLI would work.

Though as a warning, I don't know if there's a card out there that can run 4K maxed at 60FPS- SLI cards don't combine memory, so two 4GB 980s will still only have 4GB when in use.

Are there any benchmarks to support what you're saying?

You can record with any 7000 series+ AMD card as they now all have Hardware Encoders.

The part I quoted.

I mean the part about the i7 or that an i5 might bottleneck the r9 295x2

for 4k id say

2 980s, overclocked

4790k overclocked (you could go with a 5820, but that wont give you any advantages now)

min 8 gb ram, any more doesnt matter, but why not go with 16 anyways?

Mobo: any sli z board you like pretty much, around 200 $ or so

storage doesnt really matter for the performance except for loading times, maybe a 512gb ssd for your games and a mass storage hdd if you need one

Case: whatever you like that fits everything and provides decent cooling, maybe an enthoo pro or something

cpu cooler: either a huge dual tower heatsink or a 240/280mm AIO liquid cooler (or a loop if youre up for it).

PSU: 850w platinum for your budged

optional: card and disk readers etc, better fans, improved cooling for your gpus.

You should be able to do that around 2000-2500, not that expensive after all.
