IMO I'm excited for the game. Its fun for anyone that enjoys turn based RPG/strategy titles. If you don't like any of those, especially wrapped in a JRPG/anime style, then best to avoid.

first one is my favorite, I remember the beta. It was even on xbox untill they took it down an redesigned it.

Anyway, 2 and 3 were OK but because they were mobile I could not enjoy them 100%

Have for PS3 and have replayed it in its entirety 3 times.  Solid game, no ridiculous gore, great visual aesthetic(IMO), solid voice acting, but the game mechanics are where it really shines.

I think of it as the Mario kart of RTS games.  Fun, colourful and pleasing.  Hope y'all get to enjoy it as I have

The greatest reason to buy/play it after the Panzer is the gameplay mechanic. 

It's a cross between strategy & shooter/tactics/board game. It's very strange to explain, but it sort of feels like a puzzle with a large enough number of solutions that it doesn't feel like a puzzle (if that makes sense). 

It's great.

You'll love it. Note that there is an anime with some slight differences but 90% of the story is the same. It's just kinda cool to watch as the animation is pretty good.

Other things to consider:

Power becomes everything at the end game as accuracy can be compensated for.

There's a New Game+ mode where you keep everything you got last game.

Farming levels isn't necessary, but highly recommended for later game missions, so I hope you enjoy moderate grinding . My favorite part of grinding was min-maxing XP gain-time spent per run.
