PSU dilemma

Go to solution Solved by WoodenMarker,

Ok I came across another site (http://www.mlacom.si/racunalniska-oprema/napajalniki?p=1&o=casc), that store is closer to me, pick up will be easier. They have a lot more to offer around 50 eur mark. There is also that evga psu. Can you check again and tell if you still prefer evga psu?

There isn't anything that would be better for the price.

Hello!

Not long ago my psu died. I am now having a hard time to decide which one to buy.

My specs: i5 760, asrock p55m pro, hd 5870. I am not overclocking or anything like this.

It is said that graphic card needs atleast 500w + psu but i heard it could work just fine with less than 500w. So I need 2 six pin pcie connectors for graphic card. Note that these components are old so I think psu doesn't need to be the best too. So my limit is 50 eur (60 $), really i cannot strech that budget a lot.

I was looking at xfx pro series 450w but it only has 1 pcie connector. I heard of molex to pcie adaptors but I don't know if that is ok to use. What aboute thermaltake germny series hamburg 530w?

Any other suggestions? Please mind the budget ;)

The adapters are fine to use. Thermaltake psus are medicore at best.

Where are you shopping/located?

Can you link us to the shops you're planning to use?

Thank you, first time posting. Been watching linus' videos for a while but this is my first time on forums.

I plan on buying here: http://www.dinokomp.si/kategorija/racunalnistvo/komponente/napajalniki/ or similar site. So you think getting a 450W and using 2 molex to 6pin pcie adapters is fine?

That would work but you could just get a psu with the proper cables instead: http://www.dinokomp.si/produkt/evga-500b-bronze-500w/
