Upgrading Alienware Aurora R3 power supply

So, I went to upgrade my graphics card in my system to EVGA Geforce GTX770 from dual GTS450s in SLI. the system ran pretty well but i wanted to upgrade my wifi solution from a usb wifi adapter to a pci wifi adapter. this made my system freak out! Reading up on it, i should have upgraded my PSU when i upgraded my GPU because the PSU i have in their now is a 525 watt from Dell. my 770 requires at least a 600 watt power supply so when i added the pci wifi adapter the system didn't have enough power i think. My question is: Do Alienware motherboards need some fancy power supply due to "cable harness" that i read on Dell's Alienware Club forum? (http://en.community.dell.com/owners-club/alienware/f/3746/t/19342223

Thanks in advance!

The recommendations on the graphics card website are inflated in case you are using a crappy psu. It saves money on their side from customer support.

A decent 500w is already plenty for a system with a 770. That being said, your current psu isn't that good.

There's nothing special about the motherboard that would need a fancy psu.
