Just stopped by to drop this quick announcement. Are friend Tim Cook has come out about his homosexuality. Don't think to much on it.

Apple CEO Tim Cook came out Thursday, acknowledging publicly for the first time that he is gay.

"Let me be clear: I'm proud to be gay, and I consider being gay among the greatest gifts God has given me," he wrote in a column in Bloomberg Businessweek.

"Plenty of colleagues at Apple know I'm gay, and it doesn't seem to make a difference in the way they treat me," he wrote. "Of course, I've had the good fortune to work at a company that loves creativity and innovation and knows it can only flourish when you embrace people's differences. Not everyone is so lucky."

This was not posted because Cook is gay and it should be news. This is posted because Cook announcing he is gay can have an affect of Apple based on how people react to his announcement. Whether it's an investor, consumer, partner, etc. The fact of the matter is, we still have ignorant people in this world that will look at Cooks announcement in a negative light. It just so happens that these ignorant people can be investors, stockholders, or even average consumers. With this in mind, I posted this thread in the news section.

Edit: Looks like the thread got moved. I hope the mods understand why I thought this relates to tech news.

I don't like Apple products as many here may know already but a man's intimate life life shouldn't be a concern on the forums.

This thread should be moved or preferably deleted.

This is LTT. One cannot force "style over substance" values & agenda on people that actually aren't afraid to pop the lid off their electronic devices, which happens to be the most common denominator of this community. Rather than take shots at this community in every post, why not seek out like-minded individuals elsewhere?

And why is this in the news section...? We get it, there are gay people all over the world... Some work in coffee shops, others are unemployed and some happen to be leading figures within industries. Who cares? I don't... I just want the best products made with ethical standards and I want fair competition.

The fact that this is considered news is still a sign that we haven't come to accept this as something completely normal yet, if you ask me. It shouldn't take an announcement like that, it should be something that he could have casually said at any given time, and the reaction should have simply been: "oh, okay" and not this. It should not be a headline IMO. The fact that he never denied it is a good sign, but everything else not so much.

Also, this isn't news in any way. Who or what you stick your penis into is no ones business, unless you're sticking it in me, then we have a problem.

 

People want "equality" yet they continue to run around shouting "look at me!" by "coming out". Guess what, straight people don't run around announcing to the world who we fuck, and until homosexuals can just be comfortable in what they are and not need approval from everyone else by announcing it to the world, they will not be equal.
