Cooling a 4690k with water, is it worth it?

Hey guys, i am wondering if water cooling a 4690k with a custom loop is worth it. i live in australia so i want it to stay cool during our 40+ degrees celcius days. it wont be overclocked straight away, but i will eventually OC it.

If ambient temps really are an issue then I would say it is worth it but you should start with an AIO cooler to see if that's enough before committing to a full loop.

Note that custom loops cost a lot of money. You can't cheap out anywhere because water could leak all over your components. If the rest of your rig is top-end, I could suggest you go for it, but if it isn't, just upgrade something in your system. You'll see a much more noticeable difference than getting a little more OC on your CPU and good looks.

You could get an Noctua NH-D15, which delivers same performance and quite operation compared to a kraken x61 or an h100i

Put an aircon on (or have one installed). Can be done cheaper and it  cools you as well as the PC.

What other parts would be in the system?

If you're going to run some high end graphics cards it might be worth it, otherwise the NH-D15 or an h100i performs quite well.

When in doubt: C4

If ambient temps really are an issue, you should probably use an AIO water cooler like the H100i or H105.

Custom loop watercooling looks better but there's a lot of effort and cost involved (mostly cost). If you've got a 4690k in your system anyway, it's probably middle-ground so it may not be worth putting loads of money into cooling it.

Do you have 450+ AUD to spend on a custom loop? If not, how both you get a NH-D15, Kraken X61 or Nepton 280L first and see how that fares?
