should linus start uploading his videos in 60fps?

TOMPPIX

It doesn't make a whole lot of sense for his videos if you ask me. I certainly wouldn't complain if he did, but I don't see a huge benefit either.

4k 30fps for the kind of videos they make is fine IMO

Now if they were doing gameplay or something then the story changes

No, it's a waste in editing. I'd rather get more videos in 30fps. Only action stuff needs 60 fps.

Definitely YES, I dont like "cinematic" experience. This is tech channel not a movie.. so no reason to be on 30 FPS.

No reason orther than the fact that filming real life 60fps and then editing takes waaaaay more resources than 30.

could also fix the sounds sometimes, it seems weird. The intro is loud and the rest not that much. Also, I'd like to have a babe that do some go around in mini skirt. And a mini fridge full of Lipton Iced Tea (peach ofc). Thank you for understanding.

It would require more time and work.. so maybe for big videos like the trip they did in Germany or for future Ultimate Guides / watercooling show off. I think any videos less than 10 min would be unnecessary.

I'd have to agree its unnecessary. For benchmark gameplay, or any other gaming segments, they should have at 60fps.

'Youtube allows 60fps' Sure. They sure do. Never trust google.

They do for everybody as of yesterday. I've uploaded 2 test videos so far. Both have a 720p60 and 1080p60 option, and do run at 60fps.

As long as they can do 4k@60fps.

4k@30 > 1080p@60

As cool as this might be, I don't think he should yet.

Firstly, Linus's videos don't really need it because compared to gameplay, they are slow paced.

Also, at the moment, YouTube switches to 60fps when 1080p is selected. This is not ideal for people with slow internet, as I can just about stream 1080p 30fps, but I can't stream 1080p 60fps. This will effectively force me to watch videos in 720p 30fps until a 30/60 fps toggle is integrated into the YouTube player (which I'm sure it will).

I say yes, eventually every channel will probably switch to to 60fps. If linus (or tech channels in general) can start this trend then will 60fps be the standard soon I think.

I have my doubts, that they even film in 60fps ...

Also 60fps in a game is far different from 60fps in a movie/video

There hands in fast as possible Tend to blur a lot , So a nice upping to 60 Fps would be nice. Not to mention Normal videos will look very nice, even if it's a minor thing , his hand Will move around more fluidly and naturally.

So yes, I am in favour , as soon as YouTube gets there shit together and makes it so that you can change the FPS in settings rather than 1080/720 instantly becoming 60fps.

I mean why not have an improvement even if small. It would be nice to have it even if not everyone uses it.

And if we don't do it, It probably will end up like list 25, who still renders and uploads in 480p
