Monitor choice help please.

ApexSutton31

Hello all. I should first start off saying that custom PC builds is something I have fairly recently grown an interest to, so I know very little besides numbers and basic concepts. Therefore, I have come up with a mid tower build that I believe is a decent budget, fairly good gaming performance, with much room for expansion in the future. I would very much appreciate some advice as to what kind of specs I should look for when choosing a monitor for my setup. Please and thank y'all. I will list the parts I have chosen for my build. I am also very open to suggestions on the build itself as well, seeing as this was put together with probably a very lacking knowledge of exactly what I'm getting myself into. Also, I should add that I'm not on a complete budget build standard, but cost is kept in mind. I'm on a military budget, so of course, I basically live on a semi tight budget. Lol. Any and all suggestions will be very much appreciated! Now for the parts list:

PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139027

Video Card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150719

HDD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148840

OS: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832416776&cm_re=windows_8.1-_-32-416-776-_-Product

Still deciding on what optical drive to get because it will be used very rarely, but still slightly necessary. Also cooling setup is still in the planning because the case suits future plans of a radiator when a second Graphics card and better CPU heat sink is required.

But this is all of what I've got planned right now. But as you're probably assuming, most of this is subject to change when I do more research and have a deeper understanding of what a good gaming PC build is made of. As I said before, I'd really appreciate any advice on what specs to look up for a good and slightly budget "ish" monitor to use for my setup. And setup advice is greatly appreciated as well! Thank you all for reading this long and drawn out "question" of mine and have a wonderful day!

Depends what you're after. The Asus VN2478H / H-P are amazing monitors and quite cheap. And their gorgeous in Nvidia-surround if you ever get that far ;)

Alright cool. I'll for sure look them up. Thanks for all your suggestions. As I'm sure you noticed, I've said screw it and went a little bigger than my other post and switched to an ATX mid tower. Lol.

No complaints about the monitor but the rig...

I would recommend going for a Intel CPU and mobo (combo deals are frequent) and that video card doesn't quite cut it.

I would go to builds forum, let the people know what budget you have and what you intend to use the computer for, I am positive you'll squeeze out more bang for buck that way.

This is LTT. Is it really that poorly thought out? Lol. I guess I do need to do much more research. But yeah, I guess I should have originally looked for outside help on the build planning. I will do that then. Thank you very much!

You could have done worse so don't feel too bad about it. Head over here, find something that catches your eye or create a thread of your own: http://linustechtips.com/main/forum/18-new-builds-and-planning/

Yeah. I guess I did most of my YouTube watching and internet research based solely on numbers and specs alone, so maybe that was my downfall. But I will get that a look and see what I can come up with.
