{HTML} How to insert images in your page from another folder?

hey guys for eg i have a folder of my site where all the stuff is but it gets too messy after sometime so if i make folders like 'img' inside my main folder and put all images there and then how can i insert those images to my site?

 

normally its 

 

<img src="blabla.jpg">

Or, if the image is not in a folder in the same directory already, you have to use "../" to go up a level.

 

For example:

 

file.html

folder>contains image.jpg

The link you would put on file.html would look something like <img src="folder/image.jpg">

 

file.html

image.jpg

The image and file are in the same folder: <img src="image.jpg">

 

pages folder> contains file.html

images folder> contains image.jpg

The link has to go up a level to access the image like so <img src="../images/image.jpg">

 

Those are relative links, the get the image based on where stuff is located. You can alternatively use absolute links. That is, using the whole URL to get the image, that way you don't have to worry about site structure as much. I try to use relative as much as possible though(less typing). And example of an absolute link, the forum logo

To add once you upload it, as long as the folder structure stays the same, you can and probably should leave it.

Basically I'll put it this way-

If it's in the same folder structure, you should not direct link, but link relative to the current documents location.

If it's in a sub-folder, don't start with slash. It appends what you write onto the source url

So whatever.com//whatever/whater.jpg is what you get
