Do headphone cables affect sound quality?

Hikaru12

Why do you say that? I plan on using RCA analog cables to connect a source to my receiver.

It's mostly with the really shitty ones that they can affect audio quality. Most of them don't matter. Digital either works or not. Analog can be bad but it's not noticeable usually unless the cable is especially bad.

I've had cheap RCA cables hum when placed near power cords/mess of cables under desk. I've tried many different speaker cables, and the only difference that I could find is they look nice (even though you don't see them) and are built better. Optical Audio, USB, and other digital cables either work, or they don't.

Since headphone cables are just carry analog signal, like speaker cables, I doubt there is much of a difference. Don't waste money on fancy cables, you'll get a much more noticeable increase in sound quality by upgrading your amp/dac/headphones.

yea

no, there is no point and you wont notice a difference. You are not dealing with high frequency low level analog signals here. I'll have to find it, but i once read an article where a blind test was done with self proclaimed audiophiles where some very high end speakers where run with very expensive boutique speaker cable and plain old coat hangers. No one was able to tell the difference.
