Looking For a TV

WickedFox

Within the next six months or so, I'm looking to get an apartment.  My bedroom and office are already planned out as I have all of the furniture, monitors, TV's, etc. for those two rooms but I'm looking to outfit my living room.  I'm curious to know what the community has to say about TV's in the 50" range at around 400-600 US dollars.  I'd rather not spend an arm and a leg on a TV as I still have to pick up an entertainment center, sound bar, and furniture...

Attached devices to the TV will be a HTPC via HDMI, Blu-Ray via HDMI, and potentially a cable/satellite set-top box.

Smart functions aren't really needed...  Useful, but not needed.

As long as you're not a nitpicker when it comes to picture quality, they do just fine. I used to nitpick the image a lot, but many years of viewing had allowed me to go beyond that and just enjoy the material. All the major brands deliver a good enough picture for most people.

Get a TV brand with a nearby service facility, just in case you come across problems over time.

I upped my budget from $800 to $2600 and went for a samsung plasma f8500, but before I did that I had a 60" Vizio E series for 2 and a half weeks and it was awesome!

Only reason I switched back is because I wanted to own the best tv ever made and decided I didnt need a savings account :)

Hope that helps, good luck
