Network speed problems

So a friend of mine got the same internet as me.Since he can't afford internet i drilled a hole into the wall and wired him some ethernet cable from my modem.The problem is that the speed is very very low it's stuck at 20 mbps.I thought that the cable is damaged or something but i tested with my laptop and it goes as it should to 500 mbps.Any advices?

Yes his pc old but i don't think that is restricted by the lan controller

If his ethernet port is only a 20 mbit port then it could be an issue. Obviously it's hs pc if it is too low on his pc but normal on yours

Distance and the type of ethernet can affect the performance of transmission.
