Ubisoft Far Cry 4 Dev Claims Resolution Doesn’t Matter

Not sure if I am in the right sub forum, please correct me if I'm wrong.

As title suggest, ubisoft went full retard AGAIN. They just keep on digging like Linus and TB said so aren't they? What do you guys think of this?

1.)Claimed resolution and fps is just a number
2.)Claimed 95% pc gamers pirated their games
3.)Claimed 30fps looks cinematic.
4.)Claimed 60fps looks weird.
5.) Lied to pc gamers and denied downgraded graphics
6.) Locked pc games at 30fps after claiming would treat pc gamers better.
7.)Make ridiculous requirement on AC unity while in reality, gtx 860m is more than enough.
8.) And now this. (Claimed resolution does not matter)

I don't know, it could very well be that he said these things. I mean, it's Ubisoft. But still, I can't shake the feeling most things are exaggerated by PC fans to create this console hatred.

It's not OK when Anita Sarkeesian does it, neither is it now.

 

I do feel like a sensible and objective discussion needs to take place. This is getting ridiculous.

Hmmm no, that doesn't say much about the credibility of the material/source, this only demonstrates how quickly something gets spread to other websites.

I mean, more websites claim Anita is the victim than sites (if there are any) that claim she is a fraud. Does that mean the more likely scenario is that she's a victim?

 

Still calling hot air until some actual audio or video file pops up, or Ubisoft confirms. Call me a devil's advocate, but I really hate hypetrains as much as Ubisoft's bullshit.

Look hardware is getting better, games are getting prettier. but in my mind 1080p 60fps is not what I want its minimum fucking standard! I wont play a PC game that does not run this but thankfully 99% do!

 

We are supposed to be aiming for 4k, and Virtual Reality, and we barely get a game running at 900p 30fps, something we were doing on the PS3 years ago

Yes, we have 2 under powered consoles, that can still deliver fun for many people

and yes, we have the overpowered PC-s that has many smart people who can modify programs

 

Now, there is 1 (one) company out there, who makes decision based on their revenue. More game is sold to consoles, there is more money, so they go that way. it is simple.

They see that the torrents are getting downloaded a lot and they sell a handful of copies compared to consoles, so they do not really push that market.

 

Of course their PR team are trying to get it right, but for fox sake, we are talking about games, nothing that we should get angry about

Assasins Creed 9 ( /sarcasm) and Far Cry 4, that is not That far Cry as Far Cry 1, but following Far Cry 2.

 

I am 100% sure PC gamers WILL play this games at high resolution at 144 FPS, as we can modify games.

And that the companies PR acting dickish, that is right, but at the end at "worst" you just pirate the game, mod the shit out of it and have a great time

Sure, some idiots will agree with this "i dont care about 30fps so long as my investment wasn't a failure", but eventually developers will choose for them.

 

@HippY, you seem to misunderstand. Ubisoft does not release moddable/open-source games. If the game is made for 30fps, it will absolutely shit on anything higher than. It's not just one company saying this shit either.

They're trying to make you believe it isn't a problem (a reversed anita sarkeesian) and therefor accept the continued decline of performance so they can shovel you more graphically mediocre games Powered by toasters. It is also a fallacy to believe that PC gaming is somehow not profitable, look at steam. Actually, steam gives a much more generous amount of the sales to the developer than normal disc sales will ever generate.

 

Honestly, I think they will have a small time of success with this bullshit, and then it will crumble. I think games like Star Citizen are preludes to what most developers will start doing eventually.

My big problem with this whole thing is the promises. The new consoles were promised to be closer to or equal to PC graphics. Unfortunately they have gotten that, not by improving console graphics, but by crippling the PC.

If you don't want to optimize games for PC because you don't make enough money say so and stop BS'ing people saying resolution doesn't matter or that 30fps is more cinematic.
