Help me overclock my i7 4770k

Hi guys, I want to overclock my cpu I have custom water cooling kit (EK-Kit x360 performance water cooling kit) and with fabric settings I am getting 29-31c of heat. How far can I overclock and how.

Computer parts.

Case: Nzxt Phantom 820

Motherboard: asus maximus VI Hero

CPU: i7 4770k

Cooler : Ek-Kit x360 high performance water cooling kit

GPU Gtx 970x2 msi Twin frozer

How far you can over clock is dependent on how lucky you were with your specific chip. You might get some baller results... Or you might get some results that will leave you scratching your head.

EDIT: This video should help you OC the balls out of your chip. have fun!

Put the Vcore on 1.3V manual and then crank up the multiplier (sync all cores) until it fails stress tests (OCCT, AIDA64). Use 4.4GHz as a starting point.

WHen you find a good frequency where it is stable then put the voltage on adaptive, NOTE ONLY PUT IT ON ADAPTIVE AFTER THE STRESSTESTS!

^^THİS^^

or just use the AI Suite's auto-overclocking software, there are videos on it that shows it actually works pretty well and you dont have to do anything but clicking a button

How long does it have to take a stress test like AIDA64 to be said as "stable"?

24 hours is the real test IMO however some OC's fail after as long as 40 hours (lol)

Hmm, ok fair enough. What would be your guess, how far can I OC my 4690k with a Hyper 212 EVO? (I know luck is a factor but lets say "on avarge")

4.3GHz should be easily managed with temps in good ranges

That sounds pretty nice, Im gettin around 55 degrees C while under AIDA64 extreme stress test stock, what does it suggests? Also, thank you for your help! :)

You have good OC'ing headroom. Crank that frequency and voltage up (not higher than 1.3V) :D

Ok, I'm on 4.4 GHz and 1.2V and temps are around 68-78 while running aida64 stress test.Is that good? :P

EDIT:I just crash during the stress test, now I'm trying again with 1.22V.

Try 1.25V on that

After around 10 minutes of stresstest it's still fine on 1.22V.Temps are around 70-75.One more question, should I use auto-frequency settings, so when I'm doing nothing it runs like at 600mhz.That's good, right?

You mean the lower C-States for downclocking? Yes. Now keep the test running for a few hours at least and when you're done switch the voltage to adaptive

Im running it for 60 minutes, I'll go and do some stuff for 1-2 hours, and I'll see how it goes.

What's the point in that? I'm not running BF4 or Crysis 3 for five years straight.

If the OC does not pass then it isnt stable, regardless of how long it takes to pass a stress test.

12 hour stress test is generally enough but 24 hours passed means working for daily use :P

I'm not even sure on 12 hours. I might do at some point, but at around Christmas time I just want to build my PC and mess around on it.

I recently was overclocking my G3258 and mine crashed 18 hours into the stress test. That let me know to dial it down to have a near completely stable machine

So I increased the voltage to 1.25, stress test is running but I worry about the temps a bit.All cores seem to average around 76 degrees C, but sometimes they jump into 80-83, and sometimes they fall all the way down to 68-69.Is that normal, or is it getting too hot?

If it failed your pc is either off or restarted. Also 75C avg in aida64 is pretty good and solid

I know it's restarted, thats how I know.But I don't know when, since I wasn't there.Avg is more like 80 now.If it doesn't goes above that, its still fine?
