Experiences with the Nvidia Shield Tablet?

FluffiestPond

I've been watching a ton of reviews and demo's of the "new" Shield Tablet from Nvidia, I was lucky enough to try one out at Gamescom and I pretty much fell in love with it straight away. But I was wondering if anyone here has had some long term hands on with it and could tell me whether or not it's worth the £400 price tag and what you thought of it?

(£400 is the full bundle: 32GB LTE + WiFi - Shield Controller - Shield stand/cover)

Also, as mobiles are a pretty weak point for me, could someone explain how LTE works in the UK and how much it would cost?

Which carrier would you be using?

I'm pretty sure that it would also have 3G. I use the carrier Three and I get pretty good 3G reception which is great with my all-you-can-eat data plan, and I get 4G for free wherever it's available.

I don't think you'll find it worth it to get the LTE model. Just get a MicroSD card if you want more storage.

Spend whatever you've saved on upgrading your Wi-Fi equipment so you can do some good-quality streaming.

Sig under construction.

LTE is just 4g basically and you would have to get a sim card from a carrier, personally I would just tether from my phone or use it on wifi and get the cheaper model

Its an amazing tablet though

I got 2, One for me (that was 320CAD) and one for my mother (that was 250, new, with the cover. That I took) and we've both fallen in love with them. Its the best tablet for the money you can get imo.

I use game stream and Nvidia GRID A lot now. Its essentially a Xbox 360/ps3 in your hand.

I'm not actually sure, I'm currently on a PAYG T-Mobile thing. (Mobiles are not my thing) So I haven't done much research as to what I would do.

I would rather grab the 32GB model as I was going to couple it with an SD card anyway, probably a 64GB Extreme model as my in house WiFi is pretty fast, so an upgrade on that would be to expensive, plus I already Stream occasionally to my laptop so I know it works.

I've been looking at getting a tablet for a while now, I've liked the idea being able to use it as everything from a Roku box to a web browser, as well as connect it up to a TV anywhere I go. But when saw someone threw gaming into the mix I got excited :P

Yeah tethering would be out the question for me at the moment. I may just leave out the whole 4G thing for now and stick to WiFI.

Its fantastic! At least here in Surrey BC, latency is very little if you have a good connection.

Although since the weather has been a little rough here its gotten a little bad.

BUT, for the time I used it (About 3 hours) I had the biggest smile on my face. Its mind blowing-ly awesome thinking that its coming out of a tablet.

Id heavily recommend buying a OTG (On The Go) cable. that way you can use any controller you'd like and save the 65 bucks the Nvidia controller is.  at the expense of some features.

Pretty high end stuff then!

Though in all honesty I'd probably just use it to Game-Stream Skyrim in bed :D

Yep! That works very well as well!

I played Borderlands 2 with my friends on LAN. What you can do is make it so your SHIELD Connects to your computer directly by creating an ADHoc network. Once that's done, connect and play! it works well for me with Wireless N on my computer.
