external gpu?

Mao_Zedong

What are some good external GPU enclosures? the alienware "graphics amplifier" looks ok, but it cost $300 for just the enclosure. DIY perks did a video on one, but I wouldn't be able to use that one on my laptop. I am not sure what slots these normally use, but I could give it an hdmi port and a usb 3.0 port.

You can't use the internal PCIE interface that normally is used for Wireless ?

That would be a shame as the DIYPerks one is $55'ish dollars. And you can use the USB port to get Wireless signals.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

A lot of laptops have an unused mini pci-e slot, you just have to open it up or find a teardown online, or you could always remove your laptops wireless card and use wired instead. If it does have a spare mini pci-e slot you can buy this http://www.banggood.com/EXP-GDC-Laptop-External-PCI-E-Graphics-Card-p-934367.html and hookup a desktop GPU and use a powersupply to power the card. It is a pretty cheap solution, but it works pretty well.

probably not, I have a lenovo yoga 11s, and ultrabook/convertible which doesn't waste any space inside.

Funny enough, MacBooks are the cheapest way to get to Thunderbolt, which is why i got myself one. :D

Would be weird if you connect an eGPU to your ROG Laptop which already has dedicated Graphics inside. And the HP ZBooks are plain expensive with most notebooks having Quadro graphics.

If you don't mind screwing in the connector to the mPCIe slot INSIDE your notebook, there you go. If you want plug and play, Thunderbolt is the only choice here.

More infos and prices for mPCIe here: http://www.hwtools.net/eGPU.html

Prices for the cheapest Thunderbolt enclosure is 270$ at the moment. But it includes the enclosure and a Thunderbolt cable, which is handy because those are expensive as hell...

my laptop may not have one, it is an 11" convertible so it won't have much internal expansion. (can't post for a few hours after this, my break is over)

Yeah, I don't think that either... seems like you are stuck on integrated graphics... :/
